auction sale on Wednesday and
realized $47.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross. Corbett,
Exeter; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey
Taylor, Varna; Mr. and Mrs,
James MacFarlane ,and girls,
Woodstock, visited over the
holiday with Mr. and Mrs, Roes
Brawn, Marty and Shelley,
Newtonville, Ontario.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hancock,
Paul, Jane and Eric, Toronto;
Mrs. Earl Borger, Detroit,
Mich.; Mrs. Don Gooding, Deb-
bie and Donnie, Parkhill, spent
Thanksgiving weekend with Mr.
and Mrs. Edgar Munn.
Don Kyle who has been on
the staff of the Bank of Mont-
real at Grand Bend for the past
year and a half has been trans-
ferred to the branch at Hamil-
ton. He left last Wednesday.
Don is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Byran Kyle.
John Soldan, Zurich; Lorne
Hay, Bengali; Fred Dobbs,
Exeter and Edward Hendrick,
Crediton, left for Toronto on
October 10 and attended the
Conservation Authority Confer-
ence. The highlight was a nine
hour tour of the Metropolitan
Toronto and Region Authority.
On Saturday the delegates were
guests of the sixth annual Pio-
neer Festival at Woodridge.
Mrs. Orville Jones, Mrs.
Harry Horton, Mrs. R. M. Peck,
Mrs. Cameron Richardson, Mrs.
Grant MacLean, Mrs. N. E.
Cook, Mrs. A. Clark, Mrs. Doug
Cook, Miss M. Ellis, Mrs. Ro-
bert Cook, attended the bazaar
and tea at Huronview, October
10 and enjoyed a conducted
tour' of the building. Included
among those pouring tea were
Mrs, P. Graham and Mrs. Oliv-
er (Nellie) Fee.
$200 Damage Caused
Chief Constable E. R. Davis
investigated an accident on
Wellington Street Friday after-
noon involving a panel truck
and car. Damages were esti-
mated at $200. Mrs. Thomas
Lavender, Hensall was travel-
ling south and Mrs. Bessie
Seaforth, was pulling
out from parking on the road.
She failed to see the Lavender
vehicle. No one was injured.
Guides Awards
The Girl Guides held their
meeting at the United Church,
Tuesday afternoon with two
Guides receiving awards. Lois
Simmons was presented with
religion and life emblem and
first aid badge. Pauline Bell
received her skater's badge and
horsewoman's badge.
Kin Learn of Grants
L. L. Stanbridge, Hanover,
district representative of the
community programs branch,
was guest speaker at the din-
ner meeting of the Kinsmen
club, Thursday night, speaking
on "How to obtain grants for
recreational projects". Presi-
dent John Heal chaired the
meeting,
Guests were Bill Coleman,
Kippen, George Beer and
George Parker, Hensall. The
group will again sponsor a
Hallowe'en party for the chil-
dren of Hensall and district. On
October 25 S /L R. R. Waters,
RCAF Station .Clinton, . will
speak on "Project Mercury".
UCW Group 4
Group 4 of the United Church
Women met October 11. Mrs.
J, 'Flyn read sacred passages
and also offered prayer. Mrs.
George Armstrong gave a read-
ing on "Thanksgiving
Thoughts" and the group recit-
ed the general thanksgiving.
Mrs, James McAllister gave the
topic. Members were reminded
of the bale, packing October 23.
Kinettes All Present
Hensall Kinettes met at the
home of Mrs. Ross Jinks, Octo-
ber 10. Mrs. John Neal, presi-
dent, chaired the meeting and
there was 100 percent attend
anee. Mrs. Bob 'Caldwell was
presented with her Kinette pin;
and welcomed into the club.
President Mrs. Arthur Clarke
and vice-president Mrs. Irvine
Armstrong of the Kinette Club
of Exeter, were guests for the
evening. Service convener Mrs.
Bob Baker, read two letters,
which she received from the

The annual house-to-house can-
vass with tickets for the Kin-
ettes Christmas cake draw will
be held Wednesday, November
14. The next regular meeting
will be A social evening to
celebrate the Kinette Club of
Hensall's sixth birthday,
Mrs. John Deitz, convener of
the ways and means committee
reported a successful rummage
sale in the Legion Hall, Used
clothing not sold was donated
to the Salvation Army,
Legion Auxiliary
Mrs. Mary McCann, Ford-
wich, Zone Commander for
Zone C1, and Mrs. Luella. Hall,
Blyth, Past Zone Commander,
and auxiliaries from Seaforth
and Exeter were guests of
Hensall Legion Ladies Auxiliary
at their 13th birthday party,
October 9 in the Legion Hall.
Over 80 attended. President
Mrs, William Smale welcomed
the guests and introduced Mrs.
McCann and Mrs, Hall.
One of the highlights of the
evening was the presentation
of life membership pins to Mrs.
Thomas Kyle, Mrs. Sam Doug-
all and Mrs. Mary Taylor by
Mrs. McCann.
A mystery guessing prize was
won by Mrs. Gordon Munn,
and Mrs. Jim McGregor, Sea-
forth was awarded a prize for
having a wedding anniversary
closest to date of party. Miss
Jean Henderson sang "How
Great Thou Art", accompanied
at the piano by Miss Carol
Brown. Mrs. Brown and Carol
contributed pleasing piano
duets.
Mrs. E. Davis showed col-
oured slides and gave a com-
mentary of the pictures taken
by Jack Henderson of his re-
cent trip to the British Isles.
Mrs. Howard Smale and Mrs.
William Forrester conducted a
penny sale. Draws were won
by Mrs. William Smale, Mrs.
Garnet Allan, and Mrs. Minnie
