Hobo teas will be held for the
next month, Bowling will start

ducted by Mrs. Clark Ball and
Mrs. Earl Blake.
The October meeting will be
held at the home of Mrs. Don-
ald McLean. Roll call will be
.answered by showing an old
school picture. Program com-
mittee will be Mrs. P. Wester-
hout, Mrs. George -Calcdough,
Mrs. L. .Curnmings; lunch com-

Gets 'Underway
At Hensall
HENSALL - The Arnold
Circle of Carmel Presbyterian
Church met in the church
school rooms with president
Mrs. B. Beaton in charge, Mrs.
Gerald Bell and Mrs. Harry
Snell conducted the worship
period. Two birthdays were
acknowledged and 45 visits re-
corded for the summer months.
Miss Hannah Murray gave
highlights of the presbyterial
annual rally at BeIgrave. The
president extended a welcome
to the cradle roll mothers,
special guests for the evening.
Plans were outlined for the
thankoffering meeting October
15. A special guest speaker will
be present and societies from
other churches will be guests.
The group decided to purchase
100 church calendars this year.
A bale will be packed to be
forwarded to the Indian schools.
Articles for this bale are to be
left at the church. Program
conveners were Mrs. Lloyd
Mousseau and Mrs. Don Mous-
seau. Hostesses were Mrs. R. A.
Orr and Mrs. Gordon Schwalm.
A pot luck lunch was served.
Hostesses for October are
Mrs. Harold Bonthron and Mrs.
William Brown; program con-
veners Mrs, Roy Bell and Mrs.
Ed Fink.
Happy Workers Have
Evening Of Euchre
The Happy Workers Club met
at the home of Mrs. Norman
Dale on Wednesday evening,
September 12 with eight mem-
bers and •three visitors pre-
sent. Roll call was answered
by "Suggestions for Raising
Money". After the business
session the evening was spent
playing euchre.
October meeting will be held
at Mrs. Elmer Dale's home. Roll
call is to be answered by "The
Most Memorable Hallowe'en I
Ever Spent". Lovely lunch was
served by the hostess.

iary will meet next Tuesday
evening, October 2 in the nur-
ses residence.

Funeral service was. conduct-
ed yesterday afternoon in the
Beattie funeral home, 55 Rat-
tenbury Street East, Clinton,
for ,Oharlate lYfaude McIntosh,
Brucefield, who passed away in
Clinton Public Hospital on
Monday afternoon.
The Rev. A. H. Johnston,
minister of 13a.litcefield and Kip-
pen United 'Chturches officiated
and Interment was in Baird's
Cemetery, Stanley Township.
Pail-bearers 'were Arthur Dut-
ton, Thomas Baird, Gordon El-
liott, Glen Swan, Walter Mc-
Beath ,and Vic Hargreaves.
Born on January 17, 1877,
Miss •MeIntash was the daugh-
ter of the late David and Char-
lotte McIntosh, Brucefield, and
she lived all .ther life in the vil-
lage, Where she belonged to the,
Brucefield United. Church.. Her
illness was of short duration,
and She had been in the hospie
tall only a week.
Surviving are two brothers,
John and William McIntosh,
Brucefield.

Votes $15 to Retarded
The Ladies Conservation Club
met Monday evening, Septem-
ber 24 for their first fall ses-
sion in the Huron Fish and
Game clubhouse at Alma Grove,
Clinton. Decision was reached

Retarded Children's Association.

London, Hensall, Clinton, Blyth,
Goderich, Erindale end Mid-
land. Among the guests were
the bridesmaid and flowergirl
of 50 years ago, Mrs. Edward
Glen, !Clinton and Mrs. Frances
Daymand, Chatham.
A social evening was also held
for Mr. and Mrs. MacLaren by
their neighbours, A dainty 'with
was served and a gift presented.
This was arranged by Mrs.
Violet Schwalm and Mrs. Cecil
Kipfer. Mrs. MacLaren was the
former Elizabeth McEwen, Clin-
ton. .

Card Parties
On October 6
Huron Lodge No. 377 of the
Ladies' Orange Benevolent As-
sociation met Teusday, Septem-
ber 25 and decided to start reg-
ular card parties on Saturday,
October 6. Everyone is cor-
dially invited to attend. Several
ways of raising money were dis-
cussed,
The invitation to Woodham
birthday party in a form of a
social evening Thursday, Octo-
ber 11 was accepted ,and all
members wishing rides should
contact Mrs. Tom O'Connell,
Mrs, Wilfred Colclough or Mrs.
Clayton Hodgins by October 6.
Call early to avoid disappoint-
ment.
Invitation to a social evening
in Mitchell on Wednesday,
October 24 also was accepted.
Any members not having tick-

leader Mrs. Ken Johnston spoke
a few words of welcome and
chaired the meeting..
Mrs, Clifford Epps and Miss
Luella Johnston talked on vari-
ous ways of arranging fall flow-
ers and explained how each of
the lovely arrangements they
had nn display was made. At
the end of the program both
ladies kindly donated their
flowers to the church to be sent
to the sick and shut-ins of the
congregation.
Mrs. William Seibert, Zurich,
spoke on her hobby of working
with driftwood, and showed sev-
eral extremely imaginative ar-
rangements, which she had
made, ,
During the program Mrs. Zab-
lacki's pupils performed: Chris-
tine Hartley, a baton dance;
Douglas Palmer, a Russian
dance; Susan Boys, Louise
Betts and Judy Boys, a western
dance, and Penny Bateman, a
ballet number,
At the close of the meeting,
coffee and cookies were served
by the social 'committee with
conveners Mrs. Gordon Steepe
and Mrs. Milford Durst in
charge,

Witnesses WIN
Travel To Meaford
At the close of this week's
Bible study class in the local
Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Wit-
nesses, Hari McNally, presid-
ing minister of the congregation
told his audience that:the town
of Meaford will be the destina-
tion of all Jehovah's Witnesses
this weekend as they gather in
convention with delegates from
15 congregations.
Mr. T. R. Jones, district sup-
ervisor of Jehovah's Witnes-
ses will deliver the public Bible
discourse, "Who Will Rule The
World?" on Sunday, September
30 at 3 p.m. in the Meaford
Community Centre.
This will climax the three
day gathe _dig to which more
than 500 persons are expected
to attend. Clinton congregation
will contribute 19 delegates.
