Clinton RCAF Commemorates Battle of Britain-4 940
RCAF Station Clinton held a solemn memorial parade Sunday,
September 16, to honour those who fought and won the Battle of
Britain in 1940. Group Captain J. C. Mathieson, MBE, CD, took
the salute, and addressed his officers and men concerning the
Battle that was the first major turning point of World War U.
Since the aerial combats that decided the battle were fought 22
years ago, many of those listening had not been born at the time.
G/C Mathieson reminded his listeners that Canadians in the RAF
and an RCAF Squadron took part in the mighty battle, and that
Canadian ground crews contributed their vital aid to the success-
ful outcome. Pictured from the vantage point offered by the "Silo"
the flights create interesting patterns as they parade on the
square. (RCAF Photo)
