Standing in the same spot where perhaps Huron Indians stood long ago
Clinton archers let loose a volley at a distant target. The technique of the an-
cient Indian is much the same as that used by todays archer but theequipment
haS changed greatly. Now high-powered laminated wood or fibreglass bows,
aluminum shaft arrows with plastic flights and leather arm and finger protec-
tors have replaced the Indian's hand made equipment. (News-Record Photo)

Lionel Clayton Cameron; 18,
trainee of RCAF Station Clin-
ton pleaded guilty to having
liquor' in a place other than •
his residence, and was fined $35
and costs.
Magistrate Hays explained
his point of view on minors be-
ing in posSession of liquor. He
said it was obvious that a min-
or could not obtain liquor leg-
ally, so that he must buy it
from 'a boot-legger, or other
illegal source, and pay the in-
flated price which was charged
at such places. "Therefore if
you can afford those prices,
you must be in possession of
great wealth;" said Mr. Hays.
"and you should be quite able
to pay a fairly large 'fine.".
When Cameron reported that
he had bought :the liquor at •the
regular price, the magistrate
commented that "It. seems
weird that anyone would sell
to you at the regular price, and
take 'the risk of going to jail."
Hector Kingswell pleaded
guilty to failing to yield -.the
right of way, and was fined
$15 and costs. An accident had
occurred on Jttly 12 at the corn-
er 'of Isaac and Mary Street,
when Mr. Kingswell's c a r
struck a Volkswagen.
Patrick W. Murdoch, Clinton,
pleaded guilty • on a, charge of
failing to file income tax re-
turn for 1960, and" was • fined
$25 plus costs of $5.30.
John L. Edwards, of Becker's
Trailer Court, pleaded not
guilty to • a charge of hunting
animals and birds in Goderich
Township without a licence,
contrary to 'the garnets and fish-
eries art. He was convicted,
arid fined' $15 and costs.
Mr. Edwards was not repre-
sented by legal counsel. William
G. •Riehl, Deputy Conservation
Officer with the Ontario De-
partment of Lands and Forests,
gave evidence.

Canada's Credit Unions are under Provincial
Jurisdiction. Federal money policy doesn't work
directly upon them. Yet, they are very important as
deposit-takers and lenders. Their saving deposits
now total around $1,400 million, for more than the
trust companies and about one-fifth of those in
the banks.
The National Association of Canadian Credit
Unions said it feels that monetary policy is now
reflected generally in operations of its members,
although indirectly.
But it also said that Credit Unions shouldn't
be squeezed too hard by tight money. In other
words there should be an exception made.
The exception presumably would be made
because a Credit Union is a kind of working-man's
"bank" and encourages thrift.
