Letter to the Editor
• Box 303, RCAF Station,
Comox, B.C.
July 23, 1962,
The Clinton News-Record,
Clinton, Ontario.
Dear Sir:
I have just received 'a copy
of your Newts Record for July
12, in which you have reported
-the ordination of Gordon Lis-
combe to the office of an "eider
in. the Mormon Church". Be-
Cause we have many friends
and Jacquentances in that area,
we would' like very , much to
have you publish' this letter,
correcting the 'inaccuracies in
your little article,
The source of your informa-
tion, was our Church Bulletin,
which stated' very plainly that
my husband's ordination took
place at _Quantum, B.C. (not
Victoria), and that the Church
is the Reorganized Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter Day
Saints — (NOT Mormon). The
Reorganized Church, with head-
quarters, in Independence,
Souri, has no affiliation with
the Utah Mormon church', with
headquarters in Salt Lake City.
There is n oassoniartion between
the, 'two churches, no similarity
in dbctrine or practiee, and no
connection with, the Mormon
elders' who go from door to
door.
I realize that these errors
were unintentional, and resul't'-
ed from a total lack of know-
ledge and 'understanding of the
fundamental differences be-
tWeen the two churches, but
they are distressing to us, no'ne-
theles's. I feel sure that in the
interests ' of accurate reporting
you will do all that you can
to correct the false impression
which may have been left by
'this item.
Yours most sincerely,
Rose E. Listombe
