Twenty-two young enthusiasts teed off at 8.30 am.. All had finished their nine holes of play by 11. The young golf- ers were divided .into three flights' according to age. Fol- lowing are *sleeves ontainecl by each participant: 14 Years and Under Ron Cook 45, Don Hooton 47, Jed Tillman 48, Ross Cam- eron 49, Larry Pickett 50, Charles Rockey 51, Mark Stev- ens 51, Travis Rockey 51, Beery Clark 54, William, Gates 54, Don Birch 54, Gary Black 55,- Bill Mustard 55, Steven Ma- guire 57, David McRae '57, Rol- lie Steepe 63. Under 12 Years Don Bartliff 56, Gregory. Crowe 56, Paul Bartliff 57, Cam Colquhoun 57, Gary Spencer 77, Don Bertlitt woe the draw for 'first prize and Paul Bart- lift won the draw for third prize, „ Under 10 Years Mike McTaggart 80. At the conclusion of play Mr. ,and Mrs.. Hulls treated the beys to a bountiful lunch. The young golfers proved themselves to be as. efficient at the letneheon table as they were' on the course. A vote of 'thanks was extended to Mr. and Mrs. Mille by Bert Gray, who assisted in conducting the' tournament. The eop four winners tin- each flight were presented with a prize. The prizes were donat- ed by merchants and interested people from Bayfield and Clin- ton: Hawkins Hardware, New- combe's Drug Store, Martin's Dept. Store, Pickett and Camp, bell Ltd., Aiken Bros., Bert Gray, Clinton Meat Market,' Baefield Hardware, Bayfield Variety Store, Hovey's General Store. Larry Picket won a prize for the low score on the hiddee bole which was No. 7. Dr. Tillman, London, at cot- tager at Bayfield was introduc- ed. He congratulated the boys on their fine play and explained to them that a plaque was be- ing presented by a group of men who were close friends of the late "Stew" Cook, of Strat- ford and Bayfield. Mr. Cook was an ardent golfer and took a keen interest in the young folk .of the cominunity. This plaque is, being presented in his memory and Will be hung on the wall-of the clubhouse, Each year a name will be added to the plaque. The boy's name that will be placed on the plaque will, be the boy who, in the opinion of the. judges, shows goad gOlting. ability along with good .sportsmanship and 'a knOwledge of 'the etiquette of the game. The first name to appear on the plaque will be 'Don Cook, who was considered by the judges as: deserving of this special eward. Don is' a son of the gentleman in whose memory the plaque is being peesented. Mr. and Mrs, Huns are cer- tainly to be congratulated for their keen interest in the young golfers of this area. It is Mr. Hull's sirieere hope that .this tournament becomes bigger each year. Mr, Errington will teach next term at Kenora. The offering was received by Jill Bennett and Louise Nicholson and was dedicated by Betty Moss. An, interesting Bible film wes shown 'by the leader of the COC group, Mr's. Donald Haines. Minutes' of etre previous meet- ing were read ;by Mrs. Alvin Leatheeland. Roll call was an- swered by 20 members, who quoted a Bible verse containing the Word ,"Children". Plans were made to pack the bale and each member is requested to bring a donation' of money to send Christmas gifts 'to the Indian 'school along with 'the quilts and other clothing. The financial statement was given by the treasurer, Mrs. Al- vin .Leatherland and accepted. Closing prayer was by Barbara Sanderson, Ladies Aid The Ladies Aid' met with the president, Mrs. EA Davies, in Mrs. Galyds Wallis, Clinton, spent last Sunday ,with Mrs. Eleanor Picot and called on other friends. Mr, and Mrs. Joe Charles and daughter, Shelley, Flint, Mich., are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Grant Stirling for a few days. Mrs. Eva Harvey, Mrs. Har- riet Cruttinben and Miss Thel- ma ,Irish, Detroit, are visiting Alex Weston. While they were charge, She 'thanked the girfts for their interesting progrem and Mrs. Haines for the ex- cellent -film. She told about a club in the U.S.A. Which. is trying to ban unfit literature for 'teenagers which appears on the market to-day. This. club works with teachers and pro- fessors to clear the, newstands of these books throughout the States. Final arrangements were made 'to send two girls to camp.
