Sturgeon--Lostell A pretty evening wedding ceremony took place Bruce- field United Church manse on June 1, when Doneld'a Margaret Jane Lostell, daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Joseph Lostell, RR 3, -KiPpen, became the bride of Gienford Dalton Sturgeon, Bay- field, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wil- lard R. Sturgeon, Bayfield. The Rev. A. Johnston con- ducted the double-ring cere- mony. Attendants were Mrs. John Boyce, Seaforth, sister of the. groom and Jahn Boyce, Sea- forth, brother-in-•taw of the groom. The bride was lovely in a powder blue • dress of nylon chiffon over taffeta, with uts dershirt in bouffant' .style, and lace fitted bodice with lily-point, sleeves; accented by a 'corsage of red roses, a white hat and accessories, The matron of honour wore a yellow scalloped' net over taf- feta; in bouffant style with white picture hat and accessor- ies and a corsage of white car- nations. A reception was held art the home of Mr. and Mrs, .John Boyce with sa buffet supper served from a table graced with a lace tablecloth, and centred with wedding cake and white tapers. The grooni's mother re- ceived the guests in a dress. of pink arnel with white acces- sories and a white carnation corsage. Guests attended from Ramore, Kincardine,, Seaforth and Baryfiekl. For travelling the bride don- ned a three piece linen suit of powder blue in box style with white hat and accessories. School Lists There are some additions to the promotions list publithed last week for the Clinton Public School. Douglas Crich has been promoted to Grade 4 and George ,Brown to Grade 3. These names were omitted from the lists of promotions received from the school. their return from a wedding trip to Northern Ontario the young couple is living in Bay- field. • The bride is on Staff at Sills Hardware store, Seaforth and the groom is 'with C & W Graceteria, RCAF Station Clin- ton.. A. miscellaneous shower was held at the home of Mrs. Frank Lostell in honour df her niece. Relatives attended, and the young bride received many lovely and useful gifts. Members- of the 4-H Home- making Club held a shower for her at the home of Mrs. Wil- liam Bell, and presented a beautiful lamp and magazine rack. Will m McAsh., Varna, has accepted the position of libra- rian for the club for the bal- ance of 'the year, Trousseau Tea For Miss Batkin July Bride-Elect Mrs. Mervyn Batkin enter- tained friends and relatives at a trousseau tea on July 7 in honour of her daughter Marg- aret Jane, 'brid'e-elect of the. month. Receiving guests along with Mrs. Batkin and Jane in the afternoon was Mrs, Mervin Nott, and 'in the evening Mrs. William Piper, sitters of the groom. The 'tea room was decorated with' pink and white streamers and bells. The table, covered with ,e white cut-work cloth was centred' with a silver bowl of 'pink roses flanked by pink candles. Also on display was a Wedding cake, a wedding gift of the bride's grandfather, Mr. Miller. Pouring tea in the 'afternoon was Mrs. Clarence Sturdy with Mrs. Mary Jordan and Mrs. Lloyd Batkin with Mrs. Piper; in the evening were Mrs. Jack Batkin with Mrs. Wilfred Col- dough and Mrs. William Bat- kin with Mrs. M. Nott. Serving tea in the afternoon were Mrs. Doug Batkin and Mrs. Barbara Nott, Mrs. Ken Rogerson and Miss Dianne Nott performed 'these duties in the evening, Capable helpers in the kit- chen were Mrs. Douglas Bart- lift Mrs. Brnest Radford, Mrs. William Muteh, Mrs. George Levis, Mrs. Grant Irwin and Mrs. Roy Wheeler. Showing Showers at SS 10 For Bride-Elect KIPPEN — About 50 neigh- bours and friends met in SS 10 school to honour Miss Marlene Riley prior to her wedding on Saturday, .Juiy 14. Mrs, Archie Hoggarth presided for 'the pro- gram which consisted of .a sing song accompanied by Mrs. Ro- bert Kinsmen, at the piano. Mrs. James Drummond gave a .humorous reading "How to Cook a Husband". Mrs. Wins- ton Workman conducted' two contests. An 'amusing mock wedding was Presented with Mrs. James Drummond as the preacher, Miss D n a Whitehoufe, the bride, Mrs. Ken McKay the groom, Miss Katherine McGreg- or as groomsm'an', Miss Heima VanLoon, the bridesmaid; Mrs. Alex McGregor as the, bride's mother •and Mrs. Vern Alder- dice as •the bride's father. Given in marriage by her father, 'the bride was lovely in a gown, of embroidered organza with, Basque waist, scoop neck- line .andi lily-point sleeves. Her aislewide -skint featured puffs aisle-wide skirt' featured puffs a slight train. She wore a standing crown and finger-tip veil with hand-rolled French illusion. She carried a white Bible with mauve orchid and streamers. Attendants were Mrs. Tom Cunningham, Auburn ,as matron of 'honour; Mist Barbara Yea, Waterloo and Miss Marilyn Yeo, Goderich Township, both sisters of the bride, a's bridesmaid's, They Wore white embroidered organza, with scoop neck-line, yellow cummerbund, yellow headdress and shoes, They carried baskets or shasta dais- ies. Glazier on Monday, July 9, with a full attendance. President, Mrs. W. Glazier pre- sided over the meeting. Mrs. Clifford wore blue lace over taffeta with a gored skirt, bolero and white acces- sories and, a pink carnation cor- sage. • The young couple left on e wedding trip to Quebec and 'to the Thousand Wands.
