School's Out Until September
School was out last Thursday for members of Mrs. Williams kindergarten
class at Clinton Public School, Report cards in hand they made the last trip
away- from school until September. Those are more senior pupils, who are

The Federation of Agricul-
ture will hold the annual wor-
ship service on July 8 at 3 p.m.
at the Salvation Army Camp,
two miles north of Bayfield on
the Blue Water Highway.
Guest speaker 'to be Captain
Newman of the Salvation
Army, Wingham, The Salva)-
tion Army band will also be
in attendance. Ladies are re-
quested to bring sandwiches or
tarts. Chocolate milk and cof-
fee will be supplied. Directors
wives are asked to help with
the serving of lunch,

spend a week helping his par-
ents prepare for moving to Cl-
inton and Mrs. Butler and Lois
will remain here longer.
Miss Jacqueline Cluff, Lon-
don, spent an evening-last week
with her mother before leaving
on Friday for Prince Albert,
Sask., to join the Anglican
Sunday •School Mission. She
will drive one of the . caravans
and assist in mission work dur-
ing the summer.
Miss Carrie Dixon, Brant-
ford, visited the Rev, Canon
and Mrs. F. H. Paull, "Cam-
bourne House" on Sunday and
Monday, Mrs. George Wright,
Mr. and Mrs. Clem Wright and
daughter Louise, London, were
also their guests on Monday.

Dr. and Mrs. A. L. Chapman

have sold their home in Detroit
and purchased one at Pensa-
cola to which they are mov-
ing. Misses Pauline and Marie
Locher, Detroit, are occupying
their residence here during their
absence.

Recalls The past
When She was passing through
Bayfield on Saturday, Miss Lou-
isa Butler, Detroit, was trying
I to recall people she had known

in the suinmer, of 1921 with her
mint, Miss Mary Conover, the
first children's librarian irl De-
troit. They stayed at Mrs, Jim
Ferguson', and hoarded with
Miss Nora Ferguson.

neighbour of Mrs. flay Owen
who lived here for a time.
Plowman Trimble
Wins Dominion
Championship
PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE —
J, T. ."Toby" Trimble, 56-year-
old Portage la Prairie 'farmer
captured the Canadian Mowing
championship at Portage in
June and was awarded the 'Esse
Sillier Plow.
Racking up a total of 83
points, Trimble was just two
points in front of his nearest
competitor, Grant Well's Stouff-
ville Ontario. Trimble and
Wells will represent Canada in
the world championship match
to be held in Ontario in the
fall of 1963.
In 'two days of rugged' and
exacting. plowing Trimble pull-
ed the hat 'trick in Portage tak-
ing the Canadian championship,
the western Canada trophy and
'top honours hi the Manitoba
championship.
Trimble • h s represented
Canada in the Canadian, champ-
ionships on three previous oc-
casions until this year haS fail-
ed to place in the money. He
also captured 'the Manitoba title
in 1949.
Trimble was on familiar
ground in this year's match.
The ground' on which the match
was' held was part of the origi-
nal Trimble farm which has
been in 'his fetidly for close to
100 years.
Stephenson Reunion_
The annual Stephenson Re-
union was held on July 1 at
Seaford.), Lions Park with an
attendance of 106. Relatives
were present from Alberta,
Montreal, Wcassistook, Goderich,
Clinton, Seaforth, Hensall, Zu-
rich and Varna.

July 16-20 with the pastor, the
Rev. M. Morrison in charge.
Members of LOL 1035 and
their families and friends are
preparing to celebrate the
'12th" in Kincardine on Satur-
day, July 7.
A good game of softball was
played last Thursday evening
on the local ball diamond when
the Auburn 'team edged Varna
boys by several runs. Varna
plays a return game at Auburn
on Thursday, July 5.
A reception service was held
in Goshen United Church last
Friday evening- for :lea. and
Mrs. Murdock Morrison and
family, who moved to the Var-
na parsonage last week. Service
was in the charge of Rev. H.
Johnston, Brucefield and the
Rev. H. A. Funge, Londesboro.
Lunch was served in the base-
ment.

The reception was; held at 'the
Rose Bowl Inn, for the iinmedi-
ate family. The young couple
is residing at 540 Adelaide until
late July, when they will be
leaving for 'Montreal where the
groom is employed.

Clarence Reid has purchased
a lot on Highway 4 from J. E.
McEwen and is building a new
home.
Miss Louise Jones passed
her grade two theory examina-
tion of 'the Royal Conservatory
of Music, Toronto. Louise is
now entitled to her grade seven
piano certificate which she bad
passed previously. She is a
pupil of Miss Greta Lammie
