In her inspiring message,
Mrs. Alton began her address
by asking "What ' does the
church mean to everyone to--
day?" She outlined the ladies
why the Christian! ,church to-
day should playa mare 'import-
ant part in daily life'; and that
we should go :to church. to get
faith; and hope to carry out
the daily tasks. "As 'the church
is the bulwark of the nation,"
she concluded her, address by
saying, "everyone should keep
steadfast with Christ if we .are
to remain a free nation to wor-
shipi as. we please."

A social hour followed in the

served by the Westfield ladies.

Presbyterian Church met at the
home of Mrs. Donald •Haines.
The president, Mrs. Wilfred
Sanderson was in charge and
gave the call to worship. Mrs.
John Houston was at the piano.
Glad* TidingS prayer was led
by - Mrs. W: Bradnock.
The devotional period was in
the charge of Miss Minnie Wag-
ner .who chose as her scripture
lesson Sit. John 12: 26-50. The
offering was received by Mrs.
Alvin Leatherland and dedicat-
ed by Miss Wagner. lUrfs Ed.
Davies read an interesting re-
port of the synodical meeting
held-recently at Hamilton. It
was prepared, by Mrs. J. B.
Russel, Seeforith who had been
a delegate.
The minutes of the previous
meeting were read by the secre-.
tary, Mrs. Alvin Leatheriand
and adopted as read: She. also
•,gavethe financial statement. A
letter with a donation of money
was read frorn Mrs. Catharine
Dobie. Mrs. Donald Haines
thanked the ladies for the cook-
ies which they supplied for the

The members voted to giye
donation of $5 to assist with
the Daily Vacation Bible
School.
It was decided to hold the
next nieeting on' July 19 in, the.
Sunday School room. The CGIT
and the COO will be in charge.

trict were guests at the West-
field United Chinch to hear the
regional president, Mrs. Bert
Alton, Hackett's Church, give
an interesting and forceful mes-
sage an "The Church". Mean-
bars of ladies organizations
were present from the Blyth
UCW, Calvin Brick UCW, en-
grave VOW, Donnybrook UCW,
Auburn VOW, Knox Preshy-
terian WMS, St, Mark's Angli-
can Guild and the Baptist
Church, Auburn.
The guests were welcomed at
the church door 'by Mrs, Lloyd
Walden and Mrs. Gerald Mc-
Dowell who pinned lovely flow-
er corsages' on each guest andd,
they were ushered by Mrs. Roy
Noble ,and Mrs. Alvin Snell.
Quiet organ music was 'played
by Miss. Jeanette Snell who, a.180
