Tuckersmith. Has
Drainage Hearings
The mill rate for 1962 for
the TOwnship of Tuckersmith
was set Tuesday at 9 mills for
farm and residential and 11.2
-mills for commercial, and in-
dustrial. These rates are the,
same as in 1961. -
eCourt Revieuel-q was held
for the Clark and eihe Buch-
anah Mtmicipar Drains. Only
one appeal -was received and
acted on. Tenders are to be
called on' each of -these drains.
The clerk, J. J. McIntosh,
was appointed building inspec-
tor for the Township of Tuck-
ersmith. All property owners
with -ten acres or less are re-
quired to obtain a permit be-
fore building, making altera-
tions on, or removing existing
buildings.

Sod Turned For New Vocational Wing
Officiail sod-turning for the new 1.5 million dollar vocational wing at Clin-
ton District Collegiate Institute was accomplished in a brief ceremony last Sat-
urday afternoon, with chairman of the four co-operating secondary school
boards taking part. From the left, Frank Sills, Seaforth; Dr. R. W. Hughes,

children were cut to meet Mr.
Pearson and to Exeter where
500 school children and citizens
offered their best wishes.

Berry Festival To
Help Hospital Fund
Members of the Clinton Pub-.
lie Hospital staff are planning
for a strawberry social on June
27 in the nurses residence, to
help boost the funds they are
raising to help furnish -part of
the new wing.
There are officially four can-
didates in the Huron Riding kir
the June 18 election for mem-
bers of the federal house. All
nomination papers: were in or
der for the official nomination
which took place in - Clinton
Town Hall on Monday after-
noon.
Only persons present were
the returning officer Russell
Bolton, W. E. Southgate, Sea-
forth and J. K. Hunter, Gode-
rich.
All four c.andidatts will meet
on the same, platform at Sea-
forth High School next Tues-
day evening on the invitation
of the Farmers Union of the
county. Each will have 15 min-
utes to speak, three minutes
for rebuttal - and then a ques-
tion 'and answer period.
Elston Cardiff, Brussels, Pro-
gressive Conservative, and the
sitting member for the past 22
years, is conducting a person-
to-person campaign, travelling
over the riding, meeting as
many people a's possible. Arthur
There will be a power inter-
ruption in Clinton on Sunday
ni,orning, June 10 so that neces-
sary work may •be done by the
crews of the Ontario Hydro
and Clinton PUC. Power will
be off from 6 a.m. to 9 am.

Receives Decoration
Flying Officer Donald O'Donnell, Clinton re-
ceived his Canadian Forces Decoration from Group
Captain J. G. Mathieson, MBE, CD, Commanding
Officer of RCAF Station Clinton. Flying Officer
O'Donnell joined the RCAF in 1949, and at present
is a training officer at RCAF Station Clinton.-

$UM Surplus
On 1961 Record
The auditor's report for 1961
was received by council of the
Township of Mullett at the, reg-
ular meeting , Monday night,
when Reeve Tom Leiper' presid-
ed an:d all councillors. attend-
ed. A surplus of .$5,000 for
the year' would seem to reflect
a -careful•apending pr6gram. It
-comp-axes -with -1960'e surplus
$450.
Donald McNeil who was
named fence viewer for 1962
-tendered his resignation. Mr.
McNall has recently purchased
another farm -from John S. Mil-
ler and consequently feels that
he will be too busy to take on
any more commitments.
Tenders 'were opened for the
construction of a municipal
drain known as an .extension
to the Murray Lamb Municipal
Drain. The drain is situated
on con, 13 and 14.
The George Radford . Con-
struction Co., Blyth, Was suc-
cessful with a price of $2,300.
The firm, is also working on the
construction' of .a drain known
as the Sturdy Drain near Au-
burn. On this . particular drain
the -CPR is installing a seven
foot by 58 foot steel culvert
and the Radford. Company is
doing the Work for the rail-
road.
Council instructed the road
'superintendent, Leonard Cald,
well to construct as concrete
culvert on the road at lots 40-41
concession 14 to be built with
day labour.

Ernest Fisher, Liberal, has
been conducting a whirlWind
campaign which has included
the leaders of the party. The
Hon. Paul Martin"was. in, Gode-
rich a week' ago. Tuesday night
of this week, John Wintermey-
er, -leader of the Ontario Liber-
als was in Seaforth. Yesterday
the Right Hon. Lester B. Pear-
son toured the riding. Monday,
