MARJORIE MACLEOD, BAYFIELD. 17b Explorer Girls Entertain At Easter Party Explorer Girls of Ontario Street United Church enter- tained the eight-year-old 'girls of the Sunday School to an Easter party on Tuesday even- ing, April 1,7, Guests present were Marilyn Aiken, Barbara Symons, Con- nie Gibbings, Lynn Gi,blbings%, Bonnie Riehl, Bonnie East, Debbie Hopf, Mary Ann Mil - lei:, "Wendy Smith., Diane Mat- thews, Linda Faye East and Linda Mary East. About 30 girls enjoyed sev- eral games under the leader- ship of Mists Olive Johnson and Miss Margaret Skov. El- aine Kennedy, convener of the games committee, also assisted with the games. After the games, a warship service was conducted by Bar- bara Knox, Chief Explorer, as- sisted by her committee. Ruth Anne Brawn was .an charge of the program Which included a poem by Sandra McDonald, a piano sob by Diane Pickard!, and a song by Patsy Brown and Barbara Knox. Members of !the lunch committee with Barbara Ball 'in charge, served cookies and freshie. On Tuesday, April 3, the Ex- plorer Girls had as visitors at their regular meeting the Ex- plorer Girls of Wesley -Willis United'Church and their lead- er, Mrs, Lloyd Holland. About 27 girls enjoyed several games together. Barbara Knox, Chief Explor- er, welcomed the visitors and conducted the opening cere- mony. The warship service was in charge of Pattsy, Brown with Glenda Gray, Elaine Kennedy and Colleen Sauter assisting her. Mrs', William Blacker, Mrs. John Snider and Mrs. William Shad - dock took part in =,reading• of the "Angel's Message",• Mrs., Ed Farglnhar read the Scripture lesson. from the Gospel of St. Jahn 14: 9-29 and' gave the meditation on it. Mrs, Mer- vyn Lobb sang a solo, accom- parnied on the •piano by Mrs. Robert Homuth. The offering was received by Mit. J. Making and Mrs. A. Dunbar, land was dedicated by Mrs. McKenzie, who also led in prayer. An Easter filtm shown by Mr. Homuth was ,greatly appreciated. After a hymn the president closed the meeting with prayer. 0 Couple Celebrate Fortieth Year .SEAFORTH — A 'surprise turkey dinner was held by the family to honour Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Appleby, Seaforth, •art their home an April 20, Im- mediate relatives attended. The house was tastefully dec- orated in Easter colours, with daffoclilts and green, mauve and yellow candles. The table was centred with a wedding cake. The couple received lovely gifts. They have two daughters, Mrs. Gordon (Marian) Mc- Donald, Seaforth and Mrs. Beat (Rosamund) Gaa-rerbt, Clinton and five grand'dhildren, of the program. Marilyn Cut- ler played a piano solo. Sandra McDonald read a poem and ,two contests were conducted by Miss Johnson. At a previous Explorer meet- ing the following girls received their ,second red star—Glenda Gray, Nancy Pickett, Linda Lavis, Denise Currie, Sandra MVIoDonald, Colleen Sauter, Mary Lynn Forbes, Brenda Tyndall and Bonnie Tyndall.
