slit; a singsong was conducted..

ed by Grant and Kenneth Jon.-

Mrs. Tatyler invited Ruth to
sit in a decorated chair on the
platform The address was
read by Marion, Turner and
gifts were brought in by Bren-
da and Janice Turner, Ruth
thanked all for the gifts and
the program came. to a close
with "For She's .a Jolly Good
FellOw." A dainty lunch was
served.

Some friends of Mr. and Mrs,
Campbell Eyr,e surprised them
on March 27 at their home
before they leave for Restotde
Ontario. They presented a set
of hostess. trays: Euchre was
played and a most, enjoyable
evening was spent. Lunch was.

A surprise party was held
for Mr. and Mrs. Campbell
Eyre by the hunting gang and
their wives on Thursday even-
ing, April 19 at the Cosy Corn-
er restaurant, Hensall. .After
a delicious chicken dinner the
party .continued at the home
of. Mr. and Mrs. William Bell
where , Campbell . Showed colour-
ed slides: of'-the .recently pur-
chased summer resort at Res-
toule.

Easter Cantata
Sunday morning, the choir of
the United Church presented
an impressive Easter cantata
"The Glory of the Cross" with
selected readings from the gos-
pels. The sanctuary was bark-
ed with Easter lilies placed in
memory of Charles Wellbanks,
Stephen Wellhanits, Mrs. Elea-
nor Throop, Mrs. Margaret
Mains, Mrs. William Gavier,
Vernon Melvyn Brunsdon Mrs.
Mary Brunsdon, John Percy
Vodden, end all others who
served in the congregation and
who have gone on to higher
service.

The UCW thankoffering ser-
vice was held in the evening
with' the Rev, George Such. as
guest speaker, He showed pic-
tures of his work' in other
'fields. A ladies' qnartet fav-
oured with a beautiful rendi-
tion of the Easter hymn
"Christ Arose".
CGIT Banquet '
Burns and LondeSboro CGIT
held their annual 'mother and
daughter banquet on April 4.
Each ,CGIT. member introduced
and pinned a blue and white
corsage on 'her guest.
Everyone was served supper
by 'the United Church Women.
Lindat Thompath led in singing.
President Mnarie Riley propos-
ed the toast to the Queen.
Karen Mien made the toast
to the church and the Rev, H.
A. Funge made the reply.- Nor-
ma McDougall made. the toast
to mothers and Mrs. H. A.
Funge replied.
The CGIT toast was propos-
ed by Mrs. D. McNeil and
Nancy Caldwell made the re-
ply. Guest speaker Miss Betty
Marsh, Auburn, gave an in-
teresrbing talk. Barbara and
Bonnie Snell sang a duet "The
Old Rugged Crosse".
