AUBURN — Beautiful plot-
, ures of his native country, Ger-
many were shown on Monday
evening at the Auburn Hort-
icultural Society meeting in the
Community Memorial Hall. The
new president, Mrs. Ed. Davies
was in charge and Mrs. Robert,
J. Phillips was piariest. Mrs.
Gordon R. Taylor stated that
there was a balance of $104.95.
The convents= which will be
held on March 15 and 16 at
Niagara Falls was discussed but
no delegate was chosen. Plans
were made for spring planting
and several seed houses and
garden centres sent their price
lists which were discussed. MI-
•ank-you notes were also read
for cards sent.
The guest speaker, Karl Sie-
vert, Goderich was introduced
by Charles Scott. He showed
colorful pictures of Germany
and the flowers of that country.
His piettrres showed how agric-
ulture is carried on and how a
few acres and a couple of cows
form a farm. He took his aud-
ience on a trip to the Black
Forest, up the mountain sides
with .pletureque scenery a n d
showed many of the older build-
ings and churches which are
.over 500 years old. .
Some of , the experimental
farmswere shown and one of
interest was the growing of the
ritiodiodendrans with their many
shades of colpur. • The develop-
merit of a new seedless cueurn-
her which grOws over a foot
long and is used for salads was
shown in a greenhouse that
covers ten acres of land, ThiS
greenhouse was built on top of
a peat bag and does not require
any heat,
Mrs. Kenneth Scott thanked
Mr. Sievert for his address and
pictures. He also sung two
lovely solos du,ing the evening's
program. Lunch was served by
Mrs. Kenneth Scott, Mrs. Will-
iam Clark, Miss Elmo. 1Vtutich
and Mrs. Earl Sherwood,

Good Neighbours
The Good Neighbours Club
met last week at the home of
Mrs. John Armstrong with 13
members and one visitor, A
program of readings and songs
accompanied by Mrs. Harold
Livingstone were joined in. A
spelling match was conducted
by Mrs. Lear which revived old
school 4437.s. A few games of
cards also were enjoyed. Lunch
was served by Group 2.
4-H Sewing
The Londesboro 4-H Sewing
Club met March 3 with eight
girls present, Roll call was
answered by "one way -a girl may plan her separates to flat-
er her figure". The girls cut
out their garments and began
sewing. Points to consider
when assembling the garments
were discussed. Lunch was

events, mrs. Salvardo, a guest
of Mrs. Watson Reid, contrib.,
uted a solo in Dutch, and her
favorite hymn "Blessed Assur-
ance" accompanied by Mrs.
Tom Allen. A reading "A
Busy Life" was given by Mrs.
H. Durnin. An instrumental by
Jeffrey Shaddick, and an ac-
cordion number by Barbara
Burns were enjoyed.
Mrs. Neville Forbes as guest
speaker delighted the audience
with many humorous excerpts
from favorite writers.
A penny sale was conducted.
Lunch was served by the hos-tesses.
