Kendall Appeals
Conviction To
Supreme Court
APPlication was• Made Tues-
day for appeal to the Supreme
conrt. of Canada of the capital
murder conviction of Arthur
ICendall, 51, ,Bayfield.
The Ontario Court of Appeal
unanimously dismissed an ap-
peal last week after eight rein-
utes deliberation,
Kendall is sentenced to hang
at Walkerton, February 14. He
was convicted' in October of the
1952 murder of his wife in their
Bruce Peninsula cabin. Her
body has never been found.
Mrs. 11, 'Lawson
Marks Her
91th Birthday
Mrs. Thomas Lawson, Isere-
erly 'of Lendesboro, celebrated
her 97th birthday in the Biggin
Nursing Home, Stratford last
Friday, Formerly Isabelle Br-
own, Mrs. Lawson and her bus-
band lived in the United States
,for a few years.
Mrs. Lawson was a practical
nurse, and has lived in Strat-
ford since 1910. She has ;three
sees, Robert, Stratford; John,
London and Ernest, Clinton and
six grandchildren.

SENTENCE SUSPENDED
A Goderich man, Logan Alan
McLean, 23, was given .a one
year suspended sentence when
he pleaded guilty in magist-
rate's court Thursday to illegal
possession of beer in Goderich
on Dec. 30.
