The Citizen, 2014-12-25, Page 9THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 25, 2014. PAGE 9. So in my column last week I mentioned that I didn’t mind the fact we were travelling around in a snowless December thus far. However, by the time the newspaper hit the stands a couple of days later there was snow everywhere, which is alright because we all know, snow needs to be part of the Christmas season. Last Thursday night not only did it look like Christmas in Auburn but it sounded very much like Christmas. Mrs. Suzanne MacVicar’s music students held their annual recital where they played Christmas songs for a crowd of parents, grandparents and friends at Knox United Church. I was very impressed with these children who took the stage in front of people watching them closely and then proceeded to wow us by singing or playing the piano. It looked like the students have had lots of fun this year learning. I am sure a lot of this has to do with their teacher. I have been involved on a couple of music projects under Suzanne MacVicar’s leadership and know first hand that she is a very relaxed, patient and encouraging leader. One of the highlights of the evening was the one and only music student who we could not describe as a child. Mrs. Crawford could have been there as one of the grandmothers of the other students but she wasn’t. She was a fellow student there to perform her piece for the audience. She sat down at the piano and played a Christmas song with the same amount of experience as the younger students. Mrs. MacVicar introduced her as one of the most positive people she who knows and it showed as Mrs. Huron Chapel plays host to Christmas recital Bringing the music Music students of Auburn’s Suzanne MacVicar showed off what they’ve learned in the last year at a Christmas recital at Huron Chapel in Auburn late last week.
