Skelton is able to be out and around after hei’ lengthy illness. Mr. John Gardiner, of Parkhill, is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. George Lawson. Mrs. Wm. Stadelbauer and family spent Sunday with Mr, and Mrs, Vic­ tor Heywood. The Sunday School of the James Street United Church, will hold them White Gift Service on Sunday next. Col. W. J. Heaman was re-elected as a member of the city council of London in the election held Monday. The many friends of Mrs. Arthur Brooks, of Centralia, will regret to know that she is seriously ill 'with pneumonia. Mrs. W. J. Boyle, of Tor­ onto and Mrs. Wm. Thompson, Lon­ don, called on friends in town on Thursday of last week. M.r. and Mrs. Wm. Smith and Marion, of Fcrest, visited with rel­ atives in town on Friday, Marion having come over for the school dance. Mr. and Mrs, Martin Madge and son Frank, of Milk River, Alta., vis­ ited fox' a few days with relatives in this community. They also visit­ ed with relatives in London and Hamilton. Miss Ruoy Cutting spent the week­ end at Guelph. Accompanying her were Miss Hilda Maier, Car! Maier, Harold Maier and William Eveland, all of Dashwood and Mr. Lawrence Wilson, of Parkhill. Judge and Mrs. Staixbury were the guests at the wedding of Mr. Edgar Moir and Miss Vera Maule at St. Catharines on Saturday and His Honoui’ proposed the toast to the bridesmaid at the request of the groom. At the James Street United church on Sunday morning a duet was sung , by Miss Hazel Woodall and Mr. F. Taylor. In the evening a quai'tette was sung by Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Wuerth, Miss Jean Sheere and Mr. E. J. Shapton. ! Southcott were in London Wednesday afternoon at­ tending the funefal of the former’s cousin, Mr. William C. Southcott, who died Sunday while visitrig at the home of his only daughter, Dr. and Mrs. McDougall, Of Detroit. Mr. Southcott was for many years a coal merchant in London. Mild weather has prevailed during the past week. Ort Saturday a steady downpour of rain visited this sec­ tion and practically all of the snow has disappeared. The regular meeting of the James Street Young People was held Mon­ day evening opening with a hymn and followed by the Lord’s Prayer, Business was discussed and after singing a hymn Alden Walkei’ took charge of the meeting. Rev. Mr. Page then led in prayer, lick read the Scripture instrumental was wdll Ola Reid and Laurene Roulston took the topic. A hymn was sung and the meeting closed with the benediction. A few contests were carried out at the close.
