Individuals here and there live to see the culmination of fifty years in a chosen avocation of a cer tain field of endeavor, but it is given but few married couples to be spar ed in the dispensation of Divine Pro vidence, for the Golden Jubilee of their wedding. And when such a happy occasion finds them in fairly good health, surrounded by a large family of children, grown to man hood and womanhood with but a single break in their ranks, there is unusual cause for rejoicing and for gratitude to God for His manifold blessings. Fifty years ago Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gaiser approached the altar of God to plight their tr»th and invoke the benediction of God and the Church on their union, their hearts buoyant with joy and their dreams of the fu ture bright with the roseate vision of youth. The years, like milestones along the pathway of life, at first passed by with slow majestic ca dence. Many no doubt were trials and discouragements to con tend with and overcome, for these are the common lot of our infirm hu manity. But as the years \infolded with more hurried pace, their hopes bore fruit in realization and fulfil ment, and just as the sun shed its brilliant light on them that day in the long ago when they joined hands in holy wedlock so that sun continu ed to shine with ever brighter ra diance on their hearth and home down ’through the years until now in the evening of their days, when the first twilight shadows begin to fall, the declining sun lights up their horizon with the mellow ethereal fire, enkindling in their hearts re newed sentiments of reverence, love and thankfulness towards Him who has so benignly ruled their destin ies. Today the snows of age silver their brow, but God has kept their hearts young and th'eir outlook sane and full of understanding as a re ward for their answering fidelity to their duties to God and men. Around you, venerable jubilarians, are gathered the jewels of your earthly crown, your sons and daughters, the fruits of your hopes, your joys and your tears. They have brought credit to you and the Chris tian home you have built for them. They have brought love and consola tion to your hearts, and they have made worthy contributions to the community in which we live. About you have gathered your myriad friends and relatives to wish you well for though, you may not be conscious of these things to the fullest extent, you have won the admiration, respect and affection of all who have known you. This I am sure you will real ize more and more as the day of your jubilee passes on into the limbo of our yesterdays. Let us assure you as friends and relatives of the com munity, of the pride and honor we feel in joining with your family to extend to you our kindliest thoughts and our sincere congratulations. We cannot forget the splendid inspira tion you have been to us in your ex emplary Christian lives. We rejoice with you. We thank God with you on the attainment of your fiftieth anniversary and we hope and pray that God will grant you many more years to enjoy His rich benedictions. The family dinner in honor of the occasion was held last Tuesday at their home, when forty-three mem bers of the immediate family sat down to a fowl dinner. Four atten dants of the original wedding were present including: Henry F. Eilber, William H. Gaiser, Mrs. William Bowman and Mrs. Chas. Koeltzow, of Detroit. The following address to Mr. and Mrs. Gaiser was read by Mrs. Ferdin and Haberer and a family gift of a studio couch was presented by Lloyd and Arnold Gaiser. Dear Mother and Father,— It is with feelings of joy and pleas ure, that we, your children and grandchildren have gathered here to night, to offer youi’ our heartiest congratulations on this happy oc casion, your Golden Wedding anni versary. We also hope that you will be spared many more years of happily married life. It is with tender memories that we view’ the past, remembering the hap py home that you created for us. From our earliest recollection, home with mother and" father has always been our haven, ness and when they always do, give us comfort guide us in the right direction. Even after we left you to create homes of our own we have many times looked to you for the help and guidance which you so cheerfully gave. One writer has said that success in marriage is achieved by constant faithfulness. A lasting marriage is built with great care over a long period of time. Marriage calls for all a man or woman has. If you give less than your best you injure the foundations. "We feel that you have given your best in your marriage un selfish devotion through the fair days and the rough, down through years.
