Flanington, for­ merly of Stephen Township, now in Detroit, called on old time friends the last few days. The Eastern Star Chapter visited the Ingersoll Chapter on Monday ev­ ening when the latter Chapter re­ ceived their Charter. The many friends of Mr. R. N. Rowe were pleased to see him up town Saturday for me first time since his recent illness. Mrs. Blowes, who has spent the summer at her cottage Grand Bend visited with friends in town the lat­ ter part of the week. Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Wuerth, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Harness and Miss Greta visited with Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Kress in Wingham on Sunday. Mr. Wm. iFraser received word of the death of his cousin Mrs. Frank Paul, who passed away at her home in Sarnia on Wednesday, October 19. Mr. >S. J. W. F. Beavers this being the eleventh annual grand­ mother's meeting. There was a to­ tal attendance of 36, including 20 grandmothers. The president, Mrs. Walker, presided over a short busi­ ness meeting. The program open­ ed with the singing ef the Institute Ode. Mrs. Walker gave the grand­ mothers a hearty welcome on behalf of the Institute, The program con­ sisted of favorite songs and Mrs. R. Fletcher sang two beautiful solos that were much appreciated. The guest speaker of the afternoon was Rev. Mr. Copeland who gave an in­ teresting and instructive address. A special feature of the afternoon was the giving of three prizes. First, to the oldest grandmother in Exeter; Mrs, Beavers; second, ihe grand­ mother born the longest distance from Exeter, Mrs. N. Ogden; third, for the youngest grandmother pres­ ent, Mrs. Bierling. The meeting clos­ ed with singing 'God Save the King’. Mrs. Beavers and her committee served a dainty lunch and a social hour was spent.
