Mr. and Mrs. Gunning, of St. Marys, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Robins, of Toronto and Mr. and Mrs, Larry Tay­ lor, of Exeter, were recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs, Harold Foster. Mr. and Mrss, Chas. McDonell, Miss Dorothy and Patsy McDonell accompanied by Mr. G. J. Sutherland and Miss Hattie Sutherland, visited with friends in Stratford on Tues­ day, Mr. and Mrs. James McAllister and children Ian and Jean, Mrs. Jas. Broadfoot and son James and Mr. Henry Horton were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Broadfoot, of Walton. The rooms in the Petty Block re­ cently vacated by Mr. and Mrs. Jas, Dick are being renovated and will be converted into a beauty parlor and will be occupied by Miss Mildred Hackney. Mrs. Berl Broome, of Seaforth, and Mrs. Thomas Andrews and little son Donald, of Cobourg, daughters of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Dick, of Hensall, visited with former friends in town last week. At the United church on Sunday morning Rev, Stanley Johnson, of Lucan conducted the service and in the evening Rev. Donald Gladman, of Crediton. The pastor church, Rev. R. A. Brook, ed anniversary services at Leaving Hensall Mrs. Peter Fisher intends holding an auction sale of her household ef­ fects soon. Mrs. Fisher intends re­ siding with her daughter Mrs. Wal­ ter Moffatt, of Stanley Twp. for the winter months, while her daughter Miss Eleanor Fisher has accepted a position in the office of her brother Dr. Murray Fisher, of Gravenhurst, Muskoka. Mrs. Fisher and her daughter will be greatly missed in Hensall and their many friends will be very sorry to see them leave Hen­ sall. Miss Fisher has been a very efficient ol’ganist in the United church here for a number of years and also taught music to a large 'class of pupils. WohelO Class Meeting The Wohelo Class Of the United church Sunday School held their reg­ ular monthly meeting on Friday ev­ ening in the basement of the church. Mr. John Corbett presided. The meeting opened by singing hymn 109 and all repeating the Lord’s prayer. The Scripture lesson was read by Miss Gladys Passmore. The roll was called and a business ses­ sion held. The following program was given: Solo, by Mrs. Maude Hed­ den, entitled “Did Your Mother Come From Ireland’ Gladys Luker Goldie Cross and Alva McQueen. Carmel W. M. S. The W.M.S. of Carmel Presbyter­ ian. church held their regular meet­ ing on October 11th and took the form of a supper meeting, when the Home Helpers were entertained. The president, Mrs. Colin Hudson, pre­ sided. The meeting opened by all standing and singing the Doxology and Mrs. Wm, Dougall led in prayer. The Scripture lesson was read by Mrs. Wm. Bell. Psalm 36 was sung. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. The roll call was answered by “Something to be Thankful For.” Arrangements were made to have the Thank Offer­ ing meeting on November 3rd, when Mrs. H. Jack, of Seaforth, will ad­ dress the meeting. The offering was received and dedicated, Mrs. W. A. McLaren and Mrs, A. Dougall sang a duet “Angles of Light.” Mrs. W. A. Young gave a splendid address on the life and work of Dr, Jessie Mc- Bean, Mrs. Cairns sang a solo ac­ companied by Mrs. J. Snider. Mrs. Frank Farquhar -gave a very appro­ priate reading “Martha’s Thanksgiv­ ing Dollar.” The meeting closed with a hymn and the Lord’s prayer in unison. Carmel -Young People’s Society The first meeting of the newly formed organization was held Mon­ day evening in the basement of the church with a good attendance. Mrs. Kerslake the president, had charge of the meeting, which open­ ed by singing a hymn, followed by prayer, led by Miss Beryl Miss ture with able second hymn was sung, closing the devotional part of the meeting that Miss Irene Hoggarth had so capably convened. A piano duet was given by Mrs. A. Dougall and Miss Mar­ garet Dougall which was very much enjoyed. Mr. Hill is no stranger to the young people here and his address was very in­ structive and interesting. The speaker invited the Hen­ sail young people to a Scotch party, the Exeter young people acting as hosts. Miss Beryl Pfaff in a few well chosen wards moved a vote of thanks to Mr. Hill, which was sec­ onded by Miss Hoggarth. Miss Mabel Workman and Miss Irene Hoggarth rendered a lovely duet accompanied by Mrs. Dougall . The attendance captains then chose theii’ teams and the business of the evening was car­ ried out. “Abide with Me” was then sung and a very successful and interesting meeting was closed in prayer by Rev. Mr. Young. She was in her 53rd year and was united in marriage to Elmore Wil­ lert 19 years ago. Several weeks ago she was taken to a hospital in London, where it wa§ learned that little could be done for her and she was later brought to her home where all that medical aid and lov­ ing hands could do was of no avail. Besides her sorrowing husband she is survived by her father, Mr. Geo. Eisenbach, of Grand Bend; two brothers, Peter, of Grand Bend and William of Detroit and one sister Mrs. Noah Grattan, of 1 who was present during her last illness. The funeral was held on Monday afternoon from her resi­ dence followed by a public service in the United church with Rev C. Beacom officiating. Interment took place in the Grand Bend cemetery.
