The Hensall Public Library Board held a regular meeting in the Coun­ cil Chambers on Wednesday even­ ing. Only the usual routine busi­ ness was transacted. While visiting at the home -of her nephew Mr. Claude Biowes, Public School principal, Mrs. J, Pearce, of Mitchell, had the misfortune to fall and fracture her hip. Miss Hattie McQueen, Reg. Injured Whil/s Pole-Vaulting Cecil Kipfer.. . while . , practicing pole vaulting at the school grounds on Wednesday last for the sports events in connection with the School Fair he slipped and fell on the end of the 'pole which entered the side of his neck tearing it badly.' He was immediately given medical at­ tention and taken' to his home. Foot Crushed at NOU Mr. Jamesy, Hoggarth , met with a severe accident on Wednesday last while working at Mickle?s mill. He got a foot caught in a belt twisting and crushing it badly. . He was tak­ en to the Seaforth Hospital for an X-ray. Fortunately no' bones were broken and h'e was 'able1' to return to* his home the Same day.' Bride-Elect Honored A very pleasant evening was spent at the home .of' Mrs*.1 Claude Blowes on M|0nday evening when about six­ teen girl friends met in honor of Miss Mildred1 McDonell, bride-elect of this week.; Bridge was enjoyed and a social time spent. Lunch served at the close... . , Death of Priter A. Manson The death occurred here on : day morning last at his late resi­ dence on King .St.,, of Mr. Petei’ A. Manson, a life long resident of Stanley Township and Hensall. Mr. Manson had been in poor health foi' over a year, sufferin; trouble. Mr. and Mrs. John Manson and* was born farm, Goshen Line, Stanley, 68 years ago. many years till he moved to Hen­ sail about five years ago. He was a very successful farmer, owning a fine farm. He Was a splendid type of a man, honored and respected by his neighbors and had many warm and close personal friends. The Manson family consisted of 6 broth­ ers abd 4 sisters, all of whom have passed away except 1 sister. He was a Liberal in politics and a member of Carmel Presbyterian church, Hen­ sail. He is survived by his widow formerly Miss Jean McArthur and one daughter Miss Sarah Manson at home and one sister Mrs. Agnes Mc­ Leod, of Alberta. Another daugh­ ter, Miss Grace Manson, Reg. N», predeceased him, six years ago. The funeral took place on Sunday after-: noon from, his late home, interment taking .place in the Bayfield cemet­ ery. The service was led by our Sunday School superintendent Mr. Cecil Skinner. The regularly monthly meeting of the W.. M .S. was held at the .home of .Mrs. Herman Powe on Tuesday af­ ternoon of last week with fourteen members and six visitors present. Mrs. G. F. Penwarden presided over the Devotional part of the program. The meeting opened by singing hymn 1’64 followed the Lord’s Prayer in unison. The Scripture lesson was read by Mrs. Powe. The Devotional leaflet was taken by Mrs. A. MdFa-lls Hymn 259 “Through the Missionary Windows” was read with in the form of questions and answers; Mrs. Es­ sery, Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Brooks asking the questions and Mrs. Pen­ warden replying with the answers. This part of the meeting was closed by prayer by Mrs. Penwarden. Tihe president, Mrs. A. McFalls then too,k charge of the business. The meeting was brought to a close with prayer by Rev. Mr. Falconbrtdge. Prayer was given by Allen Hill and Helen Bullock contributed a solo. A recitation “Holy Bible, Book Divine” was given by Jean King. Another musical number was given by Rhena Yearley and Laura Woodall. The collection was taken by primary girls and’presented while Betty Mawhinney and Elaine Mit­ chell -sang dedicating the offering. A very interesting address “Translat­ ing the Bible into Life” was given by Rev. Mr. Gladman and Lois Swartz sang a solo,in her pleasing manner.
