Miss Elsie Robbins visited the week-end with her sister Larry Taylor, of Exeter. Mrs. Roy Flear and three sons are visiting with Mrs. tFlear's parents Mr. and Mrs. James Hoggarth. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Buchanan, of St. Thomas, were recent visitors here with Mr. and Mrs. John Zuefle. Miss Grace Brock spent a few days last week the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bowen of the Beach-O’-Pines. Mr. Geo. Sutherland, who has been seriously ill at his home for a couple of weeks is slowly improving. Miss Irene Hoggarth is visiting fon a few days this week with her sister Mrs. Reg Flear, in Wheatley. Mrs. Geo. Brown is spending a coilple of weeks in Stratford visiting al the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wilson. Mrs. Brazier, of London, accom­ panied by her son and daughter spent the week-end with her daughter Mrs, Dr. 'Steer. Mr. and Mrs. Ferris Cantelon and ■children, of Bchomberg, are visiting with Mr. Cantelon’s mother Mrs. D. Cantelon. Mr. W. A. Mrs. John Johnston who suffered a severe stroke a couple of weeks ago is not showing much improve­ ment in her condition, Mr. and Mrs. A. Foster, Miss Jean Foster and Mrs. James Sangster spent a few days last week visiting relatives in Toronto, Miss Evelyn Robson, R. N., of New York and Miss Stella Robsoii, of Toronto, are visiting with their sis­ ter Mrs, Henry Arnold. Mrs. Ed. McQueen, Mrs. Robt. Higgins and Mrs. Esther Smith visit­ ed on Monday with Mr. and Mrs. John Scott, of Russeldale. Mrs. Hanhah Workman and dau­ ghter Miss Mabel Workman are vis­ iting /t the home of Mr, and Mrs. Herbert Britton, Dublin. Mr. and Mrs. Will McLean children, who have spent, their days visiting With relatives in sail, ad district, returned to homo in Hamilton. Mr, Geo. Hawkins, who has over Mrs. iaklng treatment at Victoria Hospit­ al, London for three months has re­ turned to his home here, He is much improved in health. Rev. Arthur Sinclair, Mrs. Sinclair Norman and Marion, Blyth, -called on friends hi the village on Sun­ day evening as they were returning fioin visiting friends in Sarnia. Mrs. Wawks, of St. Marys, who has been here for several weeks with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Kerslake returned to her home in St. Marys on Sunday. Rev. R. A. Brooks has returned from his holidays and occupied his own pulpit in the United Church on Sunday both morning and evening; also at Chiselhurst in the afternoon. Miss Lettie Love, who underwent an operation for appendicitis in St. Joseph’s Hospital, London, a couple of weeks ago was able to return to her home last week and is recovering nicely. Mrs. Ed. McQueen, Mrs. Robt. Higgins and Mrs. Smith, who is vis­ iting here from Detroit spent Tues­ day and Wednesday visiting rela-i tives in Woodstock and other points in Oxford County , Alton Fairbairn, who had the his leg broken in a motor accident, a couple of weeks ago is recovering nicely. He is at present visiting with his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Green at Grand Bend. Miss Mary Woods, of the 2nd Con. of Tuckersmith suffered a severe stroke on Saturday morning at her home and is in a serious condition. Her sister Miss Eliza Woods, of Erandon, Man., was sent for and she arrived here on Tuesday. Mr. Harold Hilliard of the of Montreal staff here has transferred to Kingsville and start his new duties on September 1st. Mr. and Mrs. Hilliard are moving to Kingsville the first of next week. While John and Jerry Drummond, row of Lietowel, but former Hen­ sall residents, were out on a motor­ cycle, on Sunday they had the mis­ fortune to run into a car. John had a leg broken and otherwise badly shaken up while Jerry escaped ser­ ious injury. Rev. W. A. Young, Mrs. Young and family, who have been spending their holidays at Highland Glen, near Forest are expected .home at the end of this week. Mr. Young will occupy his own pulpit at Carmel Presbyterian Church on 'Sunday both morning and evening. Miss Sadie Fletcher, of and Mr. Harry Holtz, of who visited here for a weeks, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Fink, returned to their homes on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Daniels, of Brant­ ford, are making a number of im­ provements to their property .here on Queen street. Mr. and Mrs. Daniels expect to move here in October. The bean harvest the Hensail district crop. The grain harvest is about over and threshing is well advanced. A large quantity of grain is market­ ed here daily. Mrs, Alice Wren celebrated her 80th birthday on Saturday last at the home of her son Mr. Thos. D. Wren. Mrs. Wren is quite active enjoys life and her many friends wish her many more birthdays. Mrs. A. W. Nichols and daughter, Miss Rugie and Mrs. Margaret Scott, of Grand Bend visited last week with their relatives Mr. Geo. Sutherland and Miss Hattie Sutherland. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Demorest have returned to their home in Regina, Sask., after a pleasant visit with Mrs. Demorset’s sisters and brother, Miss Amy Reynolds, Mrs. Francis Robinson and Mr. Will Reynolds. Mr. and Mrs. Garnet Case and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Cook were in Mt. Clements, Mich., on Sunday visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Mark Drysdale, who are spending a few weeks there in the interests of Mr. Drysdale’s health. Miss Mattie Ellis has purchased the home of MI’S. John Pope on south Richmond street and gets immediate possession. Mrs. Pope will hold an auction sale of her household effects; in the near future and will reside with a daughter in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Drysdale are spending a few weeks at Mount Clement’s, Mich., in the interests of Mr. Drysdale, health. Mr. Drysdale, who has been a severe sufferer from rheumatism for several months is showing improvement. Struck Water The contractors who have been drilling for water at the Memorial Park struck water at a depth of 290 ft. on Monday evening. It is to be hoped they will secure a good water supply. Celebrates Fiftieth Aimiveisaiy Mr. and Mrs. Henry Arnold cele­ brated their 50th wedding anniver­ sary at their home here on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold received many messages of congratulations and a great many friends called at their home during the afternoon, and ev­ ening. Tuckey ^Kyie The marriage of Dorothy daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. ot Hensall to Clarence Tuckey, son of Mr. and Mrs. C, V. Tuckey, of Ko- moka, was solemnized at the Metro­ politan United Church, London re­ cently. Rev. Mr. McNevin officiated The young couple were unattended. Following the ceremony they left on a wedding trip. The bride is a popu­ lar Hensall girl and has the best wishes of her many friends. Death of Mrs. Bev. J, H. Farr The death occurred suddenly on Saturday morning at her home, St. Peter’s Anglican church rectory, Dorchester, of Mrs. T. H. Farr, wife of Rev. T. H. Farr and mother Of Rev. Beverley Farr, a former rector of St Paul’s Anglican church, Hen­ sall. During the time her son was rector here, she with her husband, lived at the rectory with their son and she was well known here. About three years ago, Rev Beverley Farr was moved to Dorchester and bis father and mother moved with him and they have resided at Dorchester since. Mrs, Farr has been in poor health for several years. A funeral service was held on Sunday at St. Peter’s Anglican church, Dorchester, when Archdeacon W. H, Doherty of­ ficiated assisted by Canon A. A. Bice of All Saints’ church, London, Bishop A. Seager preached the fun­ eral oration. Mich., visited her aunt Mrs. Charles Treitz and other relatives in the community a few days last week. Miss Kleinfeldt, who is a noted mu­ sician, gave several selections on the vibraphone at the mid-week service of the Evangelical Church last Thurs­ day evening. Eilber was born April 26, 1S62 in Stephen Township and died August 25, 1938.
