A short business session was presid­ ed over by the president also the following program. The devotional was taken by Misses Mary McKaig. Celia Christie and Mrs. McTavish. A duet was sung by Mrs, Ellsmere and Miss pearl Wood and an instrumen­ tal by Mrs. J. W. Batson which were much appreciated. Mrs. J. M. South­ cott in a very interesting manner told of her recent trip with the On­ tario and Quebec Newspaper Assoc­ iation to Timmins and Kirkland Lake where the party visited the gold mines. This timely address revealed to the group some idea of the great mining district and the work that is being carried on in this our own Dominion. Moise and fam­ ily have returned home after holi­ daying at Pt. Elgin. Mr. Moise has resumed his position as manager of the Bank of Montreal. Rev. and Mrs. Rutledge, of Fred­ onia, N.Y. state, visited in town and was accompanied home by Mrs. Rutledge’s sister, Miss P. Love, who will visit for two or three weeks. Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Battersby and family accompanied by Mr. Wesley Heywood and Miss Bessie Heywood left Wednesday for a motor trip to Shelbyville, Ind., to visit with Mrs. Battersby’s sister. Mrs. A. Harness, Andy Eaeton and Cliff Brintnell motored to Tor­ onto foi' the “ week-end where they attended the Canadian War Veter­ ans’ Reunion. Thousands of sol­ diers in the Great War were brought together at the Toronto Exhibition grounds to renew old friendships and recall the war days. Mr. and Mrs. Valera Armstrong Irvine, motored week-end where Mr. and Mrs. L. holidaying there, to the Musk-oka With Mieses Eva Pearce and Lorraine Armstrong at Elgin House. They enjoyed a short boat trip to differ­ ent points on the lakes. Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Newell and family have returned home after spending two weeas visiting in Strat­ ford, Tillsonburg and Glenmeyer and also spending two weeks at Pt. Burwell. Miss Marion Bissett spent Saturday in London and in company with Mr. and Mrs. B. Erwin spent the holiday week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Newell at Pt. Burwell. Ed. Rel­ atives, and friends were present from Prestoii, London, Winnipeg, Detroit Kitchener, Parkhill, Ltstowel, Brus­ sels, Seaforth, Meatord and Owed Sound. Trio reunion will be held at Ethel on Civic Holiday in 1939.
