In the collision of his motorcycle with a motorcar at 7.30 o’clock Roy Lovie, 21, of Centralia, R.R. 2 was hurled into the car windshield as his machine was upset. The cyclist was taken to Victoria Hospital in the police ambulance with injury to his chest and both thumbs. X-ray plates were taken and showed no fractured bones and later that night he was taken to the home. Police were told the cyclist was wtestbound on Queen’s avenue as a car driven by J. W. Holliday, of 164 Horton street, was eastbound and turning north on Ontario street. They collided at the intersection. No 'Charge was laid by police after in­ vestigation by P. He was born in Blanshard Townsnip, Perth Co., and had a colorful career. He was at times a printer’s “devil” journeyman compositor, assisting and acting post-mastei’ at Clinton and Goderich, a bank manager at Goderich Dungannon and a candidate Centre Huron in 1908 under Conservative banner. He was the son of Robert porter, who represented West Huron in the Federal Parliament from 18187 to 1891 as a Conservative. He was a member of Maitland Lodge No. 33j A.F. & A.M. and for many years was the official treasur­ er of Knox Presbyterian church. He is survived by his wife, formerly Minnie Rumball of Clinton, who is at present* visiting his only daughter Harriett, of Cleveland. THURSDAY, FRIDAY. The pony to be given away at the Exeter Lions Club frolic in October for which tickets are being given away by several of the Dashwood merchants was the centre of attrac­ tion for the boys and girls in the big parade and on the grounds dur­ ing the celebration Wednesday of last week. Hip Fractured While watching the street dance last Wednesday evening Mr. peter Mclsaa-c was accidently knocked over in the orowd and as a result suffered a fracture of the hip. He was attended by Dr. Taylor that ev­ ening and the next day was removed to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he expected, co very. Heatherley, of London, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Motz. Mr. Henry Motz received the sad news on Tuesday of the death of his mother Mrs. Eliza Motz, of Napinka, Man. The Exeter Lions Club have launched their first drive for funds to carry on their work of Children’s Benefit particularly sight-saving. Since the inauguration of the club a little over six months ago several children have, been fitted with eye-glasses and there are several cases pending. Through the influence of the Lions Club in their work with crippled children and the many activities in the interests of children the money spent through this organization goes from two and a half to five .times as far as the money spent individually.
