The death took .place suddenly,
June 3rd in Kelowna, B.C. of Laur
etta Baynham, beloved wife of Wal
ter R. Thompson and daughter of
Mr. and the late Mrs. George Bayn
ham, of Centralia, Ont., in her 53rd
year. Besides her husband she is
survived by one daughter, Mrs.
Schroeder, (Helen) and one son
Murray, of the R. C. A. F. formerly
of 'Camp Borden, now of Trenton;
also her father, Mr. George Bayn
ham, of Centralia; one sister (Maud)
Mrs. Fred Lane, of Stoughton, .Sask,
and two brothers, Walter Baynham,
of Winnipeg, Man., and Lloyd Bayn
ham, of Wingham. Mr. and Mrs.
Thompson had resided in Wolseley,
Sas'k., for a number of years, prac
tically in the heart of the drought
area ,in 'Southern Saskatchewan and
after several years of crop failures,
decided last fall to move to British
Columbia, wihere they settled on a
fruit farm hoping for their luck to
change. The news came as a great
shock to the remaining members of
the family, her mother having pas
sed away a little ovei- one week pre
vious.

The James Street Women’s Assoc
iation held their meeting, on Thurs
day last with Mrs. C. Kestle in
charge. Mrs. Steinei* read the
scripture. Final plans were made
for the strawberry festival to be
held on Thursday, June 23rd, The
group money was turned in, over
$130 being realized. It was decid
ed to have a special singer for the
Harvest Home Sunday, in the fall.
A committee was appointed to- pro
cure a new door for the front of the
church. A duet was sung by Mrs.
T. Coates and Mrs. iGoulding. Lunch
was served at the close by a hostess
and her committee.

The reguiai’ June meeting of the
W. M. S. of Caven church was held
at the home of Mrs. G. Dow, Thurs
day afternoon, June 2nd. Mrs. W.
Sillery Was in charge of the meeting.
The special speakers for the occa-
sioix were Mrs. D. J. Lane and Mrs.
H. C. Dunlop, both of Goderic/h, who
gave splendid reports on the recent
Provincial meeting held in Galt. * A
duet “The Call of the Bluebird” was
given by Margaret and Doro-thy Hill
and Gilbert Dow. Arrangements
were made for the July meeting to
be held at the home of Mrs. Sillery,
when Mrs. A. Page will be the guest
speaker. Refreshments were serv
ed by the hostess and hei’ commit
tee.

The June meeting of the James
Street Evening Auxiliary was held
' at'the home of Mrs. A. 0. Elliott
with thirty-six members present. A

Mrs. Allison from Mrs. W. A. Enti-
chnap, of Kincaid, Sask., for the lay
ettes sent to her for distribution
from the Auxiliary. We quote in ipart

wonder if you realize what your help
means to our women and to me. No

hospital has always some woman
