church met at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Newton Clark to spend a
social evening with Mr, and Mrs.
Wm. Clarke and presented them
with a clock in remembrance of the
many happy years they have spent
in our midst.
The boys of Winchelsea and Elim-
yille had a very successful sparrow
match last week when almost 4,000
sparrows were caught in three
nights, The losing side are putting
on a goose supper in the near fut
ure,

of Goderich, visited on Wednesday
with Mr. and Mrs. George Davis.

day evening with a large attendance.
Miss Clare McGowan, of Blytli, a re
turned teacher from China, was
present and addressed the meeting.
Miss McGowan, who returned in Au
gust*/ in a very appealing manner
told of her many experiences in her
four years in West China and left a
very impressive message with the
.girls. The devotional leaflet was
taken by Miss Florence Down and a
solo by Mrs. Elliot. During the
business part of the meeting corres
pondence was read and a letter of
appreciatioii from Mrc. W. E. Enti-
chnap, Kincaid, Sask., acknowledg
ing and thanking the Auxiliary for
the beautiful Christmas gifts sent to
her for distribution. The Secretary-
Treasurer reported $3 81.00 had been
raised this year to be sent to the
Presbytery Treasurer • and $100.00
bequest was received from the late
Mrs. Amy. Reports were given by
the secretaries of the various de
partments and the slate of officers
brought in toy 1938. A contest was
held and a social time enjoyed with

The annual meeting of the W.
S. of’ the Presbyterian Church
Cromarty met last Thursday in the
basement of the church with an av
erage attendance. The yearly reports
of the different branches o
work was very satisfactory,
treasurer’s report showed a
crease over last year. Our Auxiliary
has in the’past year entertained the
Sectional meeting of the Southern
Division of the Presbytery also hold
ing a United Prayer Service with the
United Church at Staffa. Two very
helpful and inspiring services. All
the officers for the past year were
re-elected fcr the ensuing year. It
was decided to takq up the Study
of India, her Missions and People
through the ensuing year. Hymn 474
was sung and the meeting closed
with the Lord's Prayer in unison.
A very successful Bazaar was held
in the basement of the church on
Friday evening last sponsored by the
Marion Ritchie and the .Alma Reidie
Auxiliaries. There was a good at
tendance and a very good display of
first class work.

at present visiting with • her many
friends in and around the village.--
