Mr. and Mrs, Owen Geiger attend­ ed the County Council picnic held in Goderich on Wednesday last. Mrs. 'Geiger took the prize for the oldest lady present, while Mr. Geiger was one of the supper hour speakers. Mrs. A. D. McEwen, who was in Victoria Hospital, London, for a ■couple of weeks and who underwent an operation, was sufficiently re­ covered to be brought to her home last week. While still very weak she is recovering nicely. The building on the south side of King St, owned by the Hensai) LO.'O.'F. and recently used by Glad­ man & Stanbury, of Exeter, as a law office has been rented to the Hensall Public Utilities Commission and will be used as an office and show room. Mr. Percy Stone, -of Usborne has purchased the fine farm, Lot 8, -Con. 1, Stanley Township, from Mr. Chas. Wasman. This is one of the. finest farms on the Highway between Hen­ sall and Brucefield and brought a good price. Mr. Stone gets posses­ sion this fall. Miss Joyce Broderick, 7-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Broderick, of Hensall, won the first prize at Grand Bend on Monday ev­ ening, July 19 th in the singing and dancing amateur contest, very clever and (has won a of beautiful prizes. On Monday she un­ derwent a second operation and re­ ports from the hospital state her condition was good. Mrs. Naughton has been in very health foi* several years and many friends hope that on her re­ turn from the hospital She will have better health. Evangelical Young People’s Picnic Last Wednesday afternoon the Young Peo;ple’s Society of the Evan­ gelical church motored to Turnbull’s Grove, for their annual picnic. The beautiful natural park, privately owned and controlled is situated about five miles north of Grand Bend. Here amid sylvan surround­ ings a tasty and bountiful pot-luck supper was served to the hungry pic­ nickers who had first finished a dip in Lake Huron. Aftei* supper a program of very interesting sports were conducted by the committee in charge. This year’s outing voted one of the most enjoyable their annual jaunts yet held.
