mother Mrs. Margaret McKenzie, of
Brucefield, were visitors here last
week with Mr. William McAsh and
sister Miss McAsh.
Miss Donna McEwen, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. A. D. McEwen, who
has spent several weeks visiting witn
her grandmother, Mrs. Sparrow, of
Paisley, returned to her home oh
Wednesday last.

Mrs. 'Geiger took the prize for the
oldest lady present, while Mr. Geiger
was one of the supper hour speakers.
Mrs. A. D. McEwen, who was in
Victoria Hospital, London, for a
■couple of weeks and who underwent
an operation, was sufficiently re
covered to be brought to her home
last week. While still very weak
she is recovering nicely.

Mr. Percy Stone, -of Usborne has
purchased the fine farm, Lot 8, -Con.
1, Stanley Township, from Mr. Chas.
Wasman. This is one of the. finest
farms on the Highway between Hen
sall and Brucefield and brought a
good price. Mr. Stone gets posses
sion this fall.
Miss Joyce Broderick, 7-year-old
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell
Broderick, of Hensall, won the first
prize at Grand Bend on Monday ev
ening, July 19 th in the singing and
dancing amateur contest,

Evangelical Young People’s Picnic
Last Wednesday afternoon the
Young Peo;ple’s Society of the Evan
gelical church motored to Turnbull’s
Grove, for their annual picnic. The
beautiful natural park, privately
owned and controlled is situated
about five miles north of Grand
Bend. Here amid sylvan surround
ings a tasty and bountiful pot-luck
supper was served to the hungry pic
nickers who had first finished a dip
in Lake Huron. Aftei* supper a
program of very interesting sports
were conducted by the committee in
charge. This year’s outing
voted one of the most enjoyable

The annual picnic of the Dash
wood Lutheran Sunday School was
held on the church lawn last Wed
nesday. The sports were held in
afternoon and in the evening a short
program was given in the basement
of the church, consisting of speeches
by four of the neighboring pastors
and a Quartette, in honor of Rev. Mr.
Luffs’ 20-yea.r anniversary of the
■ministry. During the evening Rev.
and Mrs. Luft were presented with a
dinner set by the congregation. Rev.

gregation very much for their kind
