At camiel Church last Sunday the pastor Rev. W. A. Young had charge of the services. At the evening ser­ vices there was a men’s chorus, R. McLaren, W. A. McLaren, Rev. W. A. Young, Donald Walker, F, Bat- tersby and J. Bengough; a duett by Rev, Mr. and Mrs. Young. Mr. Young took for his subject "the finding of God” and intends preach­ ing a series of sermons on that sub­ ject. Norman V. Johnston D.D.G.M., of South Huron district, paid his offi­ cial visit to Huron Lodge No. 224, Hensail, and witnessed the work of the ofifeers. Many visitors were also present from the following places; Exeter, Embro, Lucan, Sea­ forth, Ailsa Craig, Londesboro, Car- low and St. Marys. At the close toasts and refreshments were given. The Young Peoples League of the United 'Church held a delightful Hallowe’en social in the basement of the 'Church Monday evening with a splendid attendance. Miss Doreen Farquhar very ably presided. The program was very much enjoyed consisting of solos, by Joyce Brod­ erick, readings, Ross Kennedy, so­ los, Miss Louise Drummond; topic, Ian Filshie; duetts, Mrs. Maude Hedden, Mrs. George Hess. Gunning and at­ tended the funeral of her brother Mr. Robert Gunning, of St. Marys. Miss Gladys Squire is spending a few weeks with her grandmother Mrs. Morley, of Woodham. Mrs. Alex Baillie received word from her brother-in-law, Mr. Ernest Parkinson in Moose Jaw that he was badly hurt with a motor lorrie, suf­ fering from a compound fracture of the right arm, broken jaw and fac­ ial bone, three ribs on each side and a punctured lung. The accident oc­ curred on October 23rd and on Oc­ tober 29th still was unable to have any bones set. His many friends in this community will regret to learn of his accident. Mr. Parkinson is a war veteran, Friends of Mrs. Geo. Squire will be glad to learn that she is slowly improving from very severe burns she received on both hands from a gasoline lamp. Mr. Hilton Ogden is doing as well as can ’be expected from his critical operation last Wednesday. After spending seven weeks in Victoria Hospital, London, under­ going treatment for diahetis also having his tonsils removed, Teddy Johns wag able to return home on Sunday, His many friends hope that he will be much benefited. Quite a number of the Johns’ clan paid a surprise visit to Mrs. A. Cud- more, at Hurondale on Friday even­ ing last, the occasion being her birthday. The Young People’s Union held a very enjoyable Hallowe’en party at the home of Mr. Wm. Johns on Fri­ day evening, Over forty were pre­ sent arrayed in a great variety of costumes, causing considerable am­ usement and guess work as to who was who, and which was t’other. Miss Helen March representing a grey pussy cat received the prize for the best comic costume and Miss Hazel Johns for the best fancy cos­ tume. After resuming their ordin­ ary attire they all enjoyed several games and contests and a substan­ tial lunch served before returning to their homes, The hot fowl supper in connec­ tion with the fail anniversary of this church was held on Wednesday evening of last week and was at­ tended by a large number. About 460 had supper and were bountiful­ ly served with all the good things provided by the ladies. A splendid program followed. Miss Pearl New­ ton, of Toronto, .being the star per­ former. Harold Swann, of Trinidad, who preached a splendid sermon; taking for his subject "God’s To­ morrow.” Rev. Mr. Swann is a former resident of this community; having taught school at Eden. A large number of his old friends were present to hear him. Special music was provided by a Sunday School choir. The speaker for the evening service was Mr. Ward Bolton, of St. Marys, who delivered an inspiring message. Rev. Mr. Stawart was in charge of both services.
