DEATH OF MIKS CATHERINE DOVPE, OF KIRKTQN Miss Catherine Doupe, life-long resident of Kirkton, died at hei’ home in Kirkton on Friday at noon, following an illness of six days. She was born in usborne township eighty two years ago and for the past sev­ enteen years had resided in the vil­ lage, She was the daughter of Hen­ ry and Lucy Doupe. She was a faith­ ful member of the Kirkton United Church, having taught Bible classes and Sunday School there for the past fifty years. Miss Doupe was also a member of the Missionary Society. She is survived by two brothers, Amos and Nathan Doupe, Kirkton, The funeral was held Monday when a service was held in the Kirkton United Church at two o’clock, inter­ ment being made in the Union ceme­ tery. Miss Ethel Kyda is visiting rela­ tives in London, Dr. J, Ward, optometrist, has re­ turned from Chicago where he has taken a two week’s short course in foot technique. Mrs. C. Stephen had charge of the meeting which opened with the hymn “Take Time to be Holy” and prayer by Mrs, Rev. Penrose. Mrs. Wm. Bradshaw read the Scripture Lesson, Mark 10:13- 27. Interesting readings were giv­ en by Mrs. Geo. Davis, Mrs, G. Johns and Ruth Skinner. The president, Mrs. F. (Skinner then took charge of the business of the afternoon, the discussion of alterations to the par­ sonage and the bazaar to be held in December. A ten-cent tea was serv­ ed at the close of the 'meeting. The September meeting will be held at the home of Miss Mary Herdman with Mrs. Wm. Bradshaw in charge.
