SOFTBALL
GIRLS’ SOFTBALL
5 9 Runs’
The first game of the Tri-County
Legue was played in Exeter, Friday
evening, July 3rd, and what a game!
The largest and noisiest crowd of
softball fans at the diamond this
3'eai" enjoyed the game, everybody
yelling and cheering. Bob Hart
stone, papula!’ manager of the St.
Marys girls brought a jolly lot of
players, good at bat. The Exeter
girls displayed weakness in fielding,
but hit freely getting nineteen hits
off the St. Marys pitchers while the
St. Marys girls got nine off Linden
field. Dot Graham, short stop and
captain of the St. Marys team got
the only home run in the game.
Ethel Kydd made six runs, Marion
Walper and Grace Snell five ea-ch.
Miss Lamond of -St. Marys made* five
runs. George Medd, manager of
the Exeter team, says the girls will
do better fielding in the next game.
Don’t miss it. Exeter plays Lucan
on Friday, July 10 at seven p.m.
