Volland and recently va­ cated by Miss Adair. Mr. David Robison has moved in­ to his own house recently vacated by Mr. Stephen and Mr. Will Fair­ burn has moved into the Blatchford residence on South Richmond St. Mr. James Sangster m’oved this week into the Robison residence on Brock St. and Mr. Will Fairburn is moving into the residence on South Richmond St., vacated by Mr. Sang­ ster. The big dance put on in the Town Hall on Friday evening in aid of the Hensall Citizens Band was well at­ tended, a large crowd being present to enjoy the evening. The Denomy Orchestra, of Zurich, supplied the music. Mrs. McMulIan, Miss Lillian Mc­ Mullen and Mr. Albert Hart, of Ot­ terville, .were week-end visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Cassidy. Miss MdMullen stayed over and' will visit ■here for a -time. Mrs. Holland Little, of Han’over, is moving back to- .Henisall and will occupy her own house again on Ox­ ford street. Miss Jennie Taylor, who has been) occupying 'Mrs. Little’s house has taken rooms with Mrs. B. Bell. There will be a sacred band con­ cert given in the Town Hall on Sun­ day evening, October 6th, at 8:30 p.m. by the Hensall Citizens Band. They will be assisted by Stratford talent, and also by the choirs of the local churches. A silver collection will be taken up in aid Of the band. Anniversary services were held in Staffa Anglican church on -Sunday last. The services ini St. Paul’s An­ glican, church were withdrawn in the evening, the ch'oiir- going to Staffa to assist in the serVices there. Rev. Mr. Farr occupied the pulpit of the Anglican church in Blyth in morning anid in the evening part in the Staffa service. Young united in marriage, Blanche, only ■daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Mus­ tard to Malcolm Gordon1 Dougall, son of’the late Mr. and Mrs-. Henlry DOu- gall, London Road. The bride enter­ ed' the parlor to the strains of the wedding march played by Mrs. An­ drew Dougall and l’ooked' -charming in a long white gown with wedding veil and carried a bouquet of roses and lily-of-the-valley. During the signing of the register Mrs. W. A. Young, sang, “My World”. White Mrs. Wm. White relict of the Wm. White passed away at the home of her daughter at Prospect Hill on Wednesday after a short illness. Her maiden name was Jane Mitchell and she was the last of the family of seventeen children. After her mar­ riage t’o Wm. White they lived on the London Road, south of Hensall for a number of years and later re­ tired to Hensall where they had re­ sided till Mr. White died a few years ago, -since, Mrs. White has Jived with members of her family. ,She was 82 years of age. -She leaves' to mourn her loss six sons, William, Harry, Alvin, Herbert, ’ Kenneth and Roy and' two, daughters,, Mabel and Ed- nia. The funeral tooki place from the residence of her nephew Mr. Jas. W. Bonthrou on Friday afternoon where a short service was .held after which a service was held ini St. Paul’si Anglican Church conducted by a former rector, Rev. Canon Dor- erty, of London, assisted by Rev. Farr and Rev. Sinclair. The floral tributes were very beautiful show­ ing the esteem in which the deceased was held. The pall bearers were the six sons of the deceased. Interment took place in. Hensail Union ceme­ tery. Clemens, spent a few days with rela­ tives last week. Death of William A. Held William A. Held died at his home here on Tuesday, September 24th, following a paralytic stroke which he suffered last Friday. He was in his 5)8th year and previous to the stroke had enjoyed his usual good health. He is survived by his wi­ dow who was formerly Miss Margar­ et McEachen and three daughters, Margaret, Sadie and Evangeline all at home. Also there are four sisters, Mrs. Henry Miller, Dash­ wood; Mrs. George Su-inot, London,; Misses Barbara and Maggie, Dash­ wood. The funeral was held on Fri­ day morning at St. Boniface R. G. Church, Zurich, with Rev. Father L. W. Power officiating. Interment took place in Zurich (Roman Catholic cemetery. We congratulate Tom Yearley on winning first money with his race horse at Ilderton Fair last week. The Township Council have en­ tered into an- agreement with the Huston estate to take gravel out of what was formerly called Robinson’s pit for a period of three yearn. Workmen are now engaged in re­ moving the top soil so it is expected that the roads in the front end of the Township will soon be gravelled. The many friends of Mr. Peter Martene, who has been confined to his bed during the summer months will regret to learn that he is criti­ cally ill at present. Mrs. Wm. H. Gaiser, who has been seriously ill for a number of weeks is slightly improved, Mrs. W. Bickel of Buffalo, and Mrs. Darling, of Ail- sa 'Craig are at present in attend­ ance. The crop is down- so badly that in many cases' cutting is ex­ tremely difficult. Early sown wheat is coming up nicely. Some wheat is still being sown. The acreage in this district is down because of lack of time for plowing and preparation during, the busy threshing season. Her maiden name was Florence Ellen Taylor and was born in Blan- shard Township, sixty years ago, In 1901 she was united in marriage to her now bereaved husband. She was a member of the Whalen Unit­ ed Church and taught the Primary class in the Sunday School for 35 years and was also president of the W. M. S. for several years. She was highly respected in tlie community as the large cortege at her funeral testified. She is survived by her husband, one sister, Mrs. Fred Gunn­ ing, of St. Marys, a niece Mrs. Ross Hern and a nephew Mr. Milne Pul­ len. Mrs. Otto Brown has been cohfih- Golden Wedding The golden wedding of Mr. and Mils. R. R. Copeland was celebrated at' the home of their daughter Mrs. Ed. Stone, 12th con. of Usborne on September 24th. The house was tastefully decorated with autumn leaves, baskets of flowers and gold and white streamers. Over thirty of the immediate members of' the fam­ ily sat down to the wedding dinner. The bride’s cake centred the table, decorated with yellow and white. After full justice had been given the toasts were given. The afternoon was spent in games, etc. The bride and groom received many useful gifts and congratulations to ;nark the happy occasion.
