We aie glad to report that little Reg. Morrison is mu>cli better after his recent accident having been hit with a car. Mr. and Mrs. Brown and san George, of Toronto, spent the past week with Mrs. C. Tufts. Miss Marion I-Iazlewood, of Strat­ ford, is holidaying with her cousin, Ellen Haalewood. WINCHELSEA Quite a number from this com­ munity attended the decoration ser­ vices held in Exeter on Sunday last. Misses Greta, Audrey and Mar­ jorie Fletcher spent the week-end with their grandparents Mr. and Mrs. John Fletcher, in Exeter. Mr. and Mrs. Walker Kerslake spent Sunday afternoon in London with Mr. George Fletcher who is ill in St. Joseph’s Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Pooley and family attended the annual Sunday school picnic of Zion on Friday last held at Stratford. Miss Genevieve Kerslake is spend­ ing a few days this week with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. M. Fletcher. Miss Audrey Prance sipent the past week in Exeter. last week with his parents Mr. and Mrs. James Mitcihell. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Penwarden and Har >ld were in Windsor on Sat­ urday cf last week bringing home a new car. Miss. Mary O’Biien returned to London on Monday of this week after holidaying for the past couple of weeks with her parents Mi. and Mrs. ('. O’Brien. Mrs. Laverne Johnston (nee Mists Norma Rubier) and son Laverne, of Kenm-re, New York, visited with1 the former’s aunt, Mrs. Harry Mills on Saturday of last week. A. large number from the village attended the Decoration Services held in the Exeter cemetery on Sun­ day. Misses Beryl and Helen M-cFalls, of Biddulph, are holidaying with their grandparents Mr. and Mrs. J. Mc-.Falls. Mr. Henry Snoavden of London, visited for a few days last week with Mr. and Mrs. S. Knight. Mr. Kenneth Hodgins visited at bis home near Greenway -on Sun­ day. Mr. Cecil Hodgson and Miss Iris! Robinsen, of Toronto, were week­ end visitors with the former’s par­ ents Mr. and Mrs. D. Hodgson. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Folland and son, of Royal Oak, Mich., called on Mrs. Byron Hicks and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Bowden on Saturday of last week on their way to Exeter Old Boys and Girl© Reunion. Mrs. Wm. Skelton, of Clinton, visited for a couple of days last week with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Brooks. Mrs. Margaret Cassidy, of Charles City, Iowa, visited with Mrs. Byron Hicks on Saturday of last week on hei’ way to Exeter. CENTRALIA Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Greenway, and two daughter the Misses Marjorie Eva Greenway from Crystal City, Man., visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Parsons and Mrs. Ker­ shaw. Mr. and Mrs-. Robert -Smith were week-end visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Huxtable in Exeter. Mrs. Sleamon, June and Mrs. Cal- fas have returned, home after holi­ daying at Grand Bend for the past couple of weeks. Mr. and Mrs. George Thompson and Jean visited with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Brjoks on Tuesday of last week. Mrs. Jas. Mitchell spent Wednes­ day of last last week with her cou­ sin Mrs. Hector Taylor in Exeter. Miss Reta Glavin was a guest of Miss Masy O’Brien on Sunday. Miss Edith Davis spent a couple of days this week at her home in Exeter and attended tihe Old Boys and Girls Reunion. Mrs. Brokenshire visited with' her relatives in Crediton for a couple of days last week. Miss Stella Cook of London is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. B. Cook. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Mils, of Wyom­ ing, visited for a couple of days this week with the former© parents Mr. and Mrs. Harry Mills. Miss Marilyn Mills who has been holidaying here for the past few weeks returned home with them. J. and Mrs. Maines, of Corunna, Who have wel­ comed. a little son to their home. .Several from here attended the funeral of the late Mr. Mose© Reed­ er on Monday. He celebrated his 9Otih birthday last February and. was the oldest member of the United Church here. The members of the Anglican church went to the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. Ta.ylor (Miss Nola Wilson) recently and presented them .with a casserole and spent a pleasant evening. Mr. and Mrs. Mosseau, of Kippen, spent Thursday evening with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Dean Brown. Mr. W. J. Brown and family and M.rs. J. Brown attended a gather­ ing of the Tufts family at Kirkton last Saturday. Miss Olive Moore, of Toronto, is a guest with her brother Rev. J. B. Moore at the manse, Grand Bend. Mrs. Ed. Mason is ill. We hope fo.r a speedy recovery. Miss .Lorraine Eagleeon, of Sar­ nia, is holidaying with Mr. and Mrs. E. Mason. 'The residents, of Main St. appre­ ciated the dressing -of calcium chlor­ ide that was put on the road last Tuesday. When Mr. Harry iSheppard was driving on the road south of Moray last Friday evening a motorist struck his 'buggy and damaged it very .much but no one was injured. 'Thursday evening Rev. J. B, Moore was in collision with a drove of cattle east of Mt. Carmel and his Car badly wrecked. No one was in­ jured but one animal was killed. Last Thursday evening the young people of the United Church gath­ ered at the home of Mr. and. Mrs. The parade Monday, was acclaimed as one of the best to be held in Western Ontario. The above are a few of the many floats and attractions. The first shows a couple cf lads with their goat all dressed for the occasion. No. 2 is Snell Bros.float; No. 3, Decorated Ford VS driven by Miss Hazel Elliott; No. 4, a group of comics; No. 5, Ed. An­ derson with dog and cage of young puppies; No. 6, a group of H. Both responded in a few grateful words. Games and social chat were enjoyed and refreshments of cake and. ice cream were served. Many kindly wishes were expressed for the future and prosperity of the newly wed couiple. The harvest is coming along very fast. Wheat and barley are out and oats are .ripening very fast. A large number from here attend­ ed the Decoration Services at the Exeter Cemetery on Sunday last. Sunday School will be held at It) o’clock next Sunday morning im­ mediately following a service will be held under the auspices of the Mission Band. Preaching service will be held at 7 p.m. with Rev. J. R. Peters in charge. The boom years are that period when people contract the debts they have to pay off during hard times, HURON COUNTY COVNCIL HOLDS PICNIC AT GODERICH GODERICH, July 25—The mem­ bers of the Huron County Council and their families held the annual picnic Wedesday in Harbor Park. Over two hundred were present and enjoyed a happy time in the park and at the beach. Lake trips in Thomas .Sandy’s motor boat were pleasant features of the picnic. Warden Sweitzer was a genial host and after supper when speeches were called off, welcomed the gath­ ering and expressed his delight at the fine turnout. Then the Warden called on the following to speak: George Spotton, M. P., for North Huron; William Golding M.P., for South Huron; R. J. Deachman, Lib­ eral nominee for North Huron; Geo. Elliott, ex-Warden of Huron County; Owen Geiger, ex-county councillor; William Baillie; Peter Scott, Reeve of East Wawanosh; ex-county coun­ cillor Leiper, o.f Hullett; John Bry- ahs, of Howick; Murdock Matheson, Ashfield; F. Davidson, Reeve of Wingham; Reeve R, J. Bowman, cf Brussels; Dep. Reeve R. Turner, of Goderich; B. C. Munnings, former Reeve of Goderich. An Old Councillor Alexander Young, an ex-Warden of the County, and former reeve of Colborne, and now an octogenarian, entered the county council in 1893 and was a member until 1896 when the county changed into districts and has kept in close touch with county) matters ever since.
