Mr. and Mrs. John Manson and son, of Galt visited \for a few days last week with Mr. and Mrs. William Gangster and also- attended the Re­ union. Mrs. Samuel Stacey, Miss Lillian Stacey. Jioihn and Fred Stacey, of De­ troit, were over for the reunion and are visiting relatives in town and at Hillsgreen. Rev W. A. Young will .take the service in the Presbyterian church, Exeter, each Sunday morning during July and will occupy his -own pulpit in Carmel church in the evening. Mr. J. O. Jones, of London, Mr. and Mrs. McKenzie, of Tuckersmith Mr. and Mrs. J. Hood of Stanley; were guests at the home of Reeve Jones and Mrs. Jiones during the re­ union.Mrs. P. F. Kennedy, of Winnipeg, who was here for the reunion is spending a couple of weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Petty. Mrs. Kennedy came home by plane _ from Winnipeg. Mr. and Mrs. Alex. Henry, of Cass City, and Mr. and Mrs. David Smith and Barbara Jean Smith, of Detroit, returned to- their ihomes on Friday after a pleasant visit with relatives in Hensall and- vicinity. Mrs. John' Willis, of Decker, Mich, accompanied by her son, Mr. Fred Willis and daughter1 Miss Violet Willis visited last week With their relatives Mr. and Mrs. Alf. Taylor and- Mr. and Mrs. Jas. A. Bell. Mayor Brandt, of Elmira, accom­ panied by Mrs. Brandt, was here for a few days last-week taking in the re-union and visiting friends. Mr. B-rand-t was a former C. N. R- station agent here and their many friends were pleased to see them again. The many friends of Mrs. Mc- Marten (Edit'K Bonthron) of Barrie, will be pleased to hear she is im- » proving. Mr. and Mrs. M eMarten came to attend the reunion and Mrs. McMarten was taken ill at the home of -her mother Mrs. R. Bonthron. He attended the meeting of the Ontario Mayors held recently and he said that there ivas only three good mayors there Jimmy Simpson, of Toronto; Mayor Hough, of Montreal and Mayor Brante, of Elmira. You must know Alex to ap­ preciate this. Rev. B. H. Farr, o-f St. Jolinfe, the newly appointed rector of St. PaulV Anglican church here occupied the pulpit of his new charge at both ser­ vices on Sunday, also- at Staffa in the afternoon. Rev. Mr. Farr will bring his father and mother with him to Hensall to reside -and will oc­ cupy the rectory at the corner of Nelson and Gxf-ord streets. During the reunion Mr. and Mrs. J. W. The Reunion Mrs. have have CREPITON Wealthy Schroeder, Toronto, few days at the home of her Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Schrued- The Old Boys and Girls come -home and a great many gone again, but all will have pleas­ ant memories of their visit to Hen- eall; the big crowds, the wonderful reception and the splendid enter­ tainment provided for them by the citizens of Hensall- through their act­ ing committees. The weather was perfect for the reunion and one oif the frequent comments among the visitors was the good order kept. There was no- disorder worth while speaking about. The Committee are to be co-ngratuated -on the out­ come. It was a big undertaking for so ©mall a place, especially on the scale of the entertainment provided. No trouble was too great, or expenses too large to make the reunion the big success it was. There was a large registration but hundreds did not register. While the treasurer has not all the bills in yet, we are unable to' give the exact surplus left over. We- can­ not give enough praise to the Lon­ don Old Boys for their splendid turn out and entertainment on Monday Or the wonderful good will parade of the Exeter people on ..Tuesday even­ ing. Both were greatly appreciated. On Wednesday evening the show put ■on by the Hensall minstrels was one of the big events of the .reunion. A large crowd was present at the park and the big show was a fitting cli­ max to three big days of fun. After the show thousands were on the streets around the dancing‘pavilion and in the town hall. Massed bands paraded the streets, hundreds fol­ lowed dressed in all kinds of cos­ tumes. After twelve o’clock Seaforth Highland Band came over to help out with the .fun and ait three o’clock Thursday morning the big reunion was over. Miss spent a parents er. Miss Dorothy Grc-.-s, of Kitchener, is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Goodman have leturned to Detroit after visit­ ing with the latter’s parents Mt. and Mrs. Charles Schroeder. Mrs. Schade, Miss Melvina 'Schade Clarence Schade and Mr. Ed. Hend­ rick, of Grand Bend; Miss Ila Sweit­ zer and Mr. Vern Sharpe, of Shipka, and Miss Gladys Weber were visitors with Miss Lyda Haist on Sunday. Miss Clara Gaiser visited Miss Helen Finkbeiner on Sunday. Mrs. W. H. Finkbeiner, Ruby, Norma and Alvin Finkbeiner were guests of Mr, and -Mrs. Sippel, of Hanover on Sunday. We are g-lad to report that Mrs. John Klumpp is improving nicely after an operation at St. Joseph’s Hospital, London. Mrs. W. H. Gaiser who has been very ill dor the past .six weeks still continues in a critical condition. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fatet, of Ches- ley accompanied by Clinton M-orlock left Friday for Chicago and Napier- ville for two weeks vacation. ■Mrs. N. E. French and daughter Joyce of Toronto; Mrs. H. R. Abell, and son Robert, Montreal; Miss Ruth Brown, of Zurich; Miss Matilda Oes- tricher of Windsor, are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Oestrioher. Mr. Delmar Brown, of Otterville, Clarence Kroips and Gordon Krueger of Kitchener, spent a few days at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Fahner last week. Mrs. Elizabeth Dambra and Dambra, of London, visited Mrs. Jack Haist on Sunday. Mrs. Norman Ricker, of Owendale Michigan, is visiting with Mrs. H..F. Eilber. A large crowd enjoyed the annual Strawberry social which was held by the Evangelical Church recently. An interesting program with Rev. A. E. Pletch as chairman by members of the choir, opened with a play entitl­ ed “The Barnesville Choir Spruces Up.” The cast included F. W. Mor- lock, Clara Gaiser, Norma Fink­ beiner, Marguerite Amy, Gladys Ratz, Aldona Wuerth, .Gertrude Amy Agnes Lamport, Alvin Finkbeiner, Gordon Ratz and Earl Haist. Addie Gaiser was director of the play. , 'This was followed by musical se­ lections by the oirchestra. Vocal solos were rendered by Mrs. Gordon Mor- lock, Charles Hoffman and W. R. Goulding. Lorence and Lloyd Wein contributed a vocal duett. A ladies’ •octette concluded the program. The gate receipts* amounted to $75.00. Decoration and Memorial Service A large crowd gathered at the Evangelical cemetery on Sunday af­ ternoon for the decoration of graves and memorial service. Rev. A. E. Pletch presided. The Sunday Schoql orchestra played several appropriate selections introductory to the ser­ vice. Hymn “Faith of our Fathers” was sung after which Mr. S. McFalls of­ fered prayer. Mrs. French of Toron­ to sang “Some Day the Silver Cord Will Break.” Passages from Hebrew 11 were read. Mr. S. McFalls gave an impressive and spiritual message suitable for the occasion on “There Go the Ships.” A ladies’ octette sang “Jesus Lover of My Soul” and Chas. Hoffman sang, “Bautiful Isle of Somewhere.” Rev. A. E. Pletch spoke on “Seeking a Better Country.” This beautiful and impressive memorial closed by sing­ ing “Abide With Me.” The ceme­ tery grounds presented an excellent appearance and most of the graves were decorated with flowers. S. held their monthly meeting at the -home of Mrs. George Squire on Thursday afternoon and had as their guests the Zion ladies. Mrs. Harvey Squire was in the chair. The meeting opened with quiet music followed by singing and prayer. The Scripture reading was read by Mrs. John Hazelwood. A vocal duet by Mrs. Pooley and Mrs. W. Batten was much enjoyed. A letter of appre­ ciation was read from Mrs. Milne Pullen for sympathy1 sent her dur­ ing her recent bereavement and ill­ ness. The guest speaker was Mrs. Chas. Johns of. Elimville who gave a very interesting and benefical re­ port of the branch Convention held at St. Marys. Mrs. F. .Squire- favored with a solo. Mrs. Warren Brock, president of the Zion W. M. S. spoke in a pleasing manner of the joy -of their society meetings with Whalen. A piano duett was given by Mrs. W. Batten and Mrs. Geo. Bonck follow­ ed by singing and prayer closed the meeting. Refreshments were ed, Mrs. Penrice and family are remain­ ing for some time. Presentation A very pleasant social evening was spent at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Delbridge on Wednesday, July 3rd by the members of the charivari and their friends. The early part of the evening was spent on the lawn, playing games. Afterwards all gathered in the house and pre­ sented Mir. and Mrs. Horace Del- bridge with a beautiful divanette. The address was read by Mr. Fred ■Long and the presentation was made by Mr. Harry March and iMr. Gilbert Johns, after which Mr. Horace Del- bridge thanked them. Refreshments were served. Dear Marjorie,— As it dawns upon us that you are about to leave -our community, we begin to feel how large a place you have been filling in our lives, and in our different societies. We recall the very useful and -devoted services you have given to the Sunday School, to our Young People’s Society, and par­ ticularly to our Mission 'Circle, as its President now for almost two years. In all -departments o-f Christian work you have been a faithful and con­ secrated worker, always giving youir time and talents unstintingly and willingly to any service you could render. You have been a great in­ spiration to us all, and we gather now to thank you. We are sorry to lose you, and realize that it will not be easy to fill your place in our so­ cial -oi\community- life. If oui’ work in the Master’s Kingdom here, has ever seemed to falter- oi’ fail, it has not been because of any lack of faith­ fulness or interest on your part.
