S. staff visited at his home over the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johns, Roger and Gordon, of Toronto, spent the week-end with the former’s mother, Mrs. V. Johns, Mrs. J. H. Stainton, who recent­ ly underwent an operation in Vitor­ ia Hospital, London, returned home on .Saturday last. Monday, June 3rd, the Kings birthday, will be a legal holiday when the banks, the schools and the posto'ffice will close. Mr. and Mrs. Brisbin and family, of Listowel, spent last Sunday with Mrs. Brisbin’s uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Rd. Terry. Miss Marion Powell visited in London last week. Mr. and Mrs. Powell motored down on Sunday and Marion returned with them. Miss Brown was the guest of Miss A. Marsh, A.R.C.A., head of the art department of the College of Educa­ tion at her home in North Toronto. Dr. G. M. Graham, who several years ago left Exeter for Formosa and who recently disposed of his med­ ical practice in that place, called on old friends in Exeter on Thursday of last week. Among the recent visitors in the ■ home of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. John­ ston .and ton; ■sail, Mabel Whiteman, of Kippen Mr. Joseph Hood, of Kippen. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Ryckman, Mooney and Mrs. Vanhorn, of ton, motored to. Michigan Wednes­ day where they are attending a re­ union at Rowe’s school in Orange county. It was there they spent their school days and no doubt the reunion will be a most enjoyable affair. The students at Western Univer­ sity are through for another term. Among those who are home for the holidays are Hugh C-reech, B.A.; Helen Penhale, Margaret and Jean­ ette Taman, Rowe Dinney, Grafton Cochrane, Earl Christie, Kathleen Wiseman and Gordon Greb. Mr. A. R. Bell has returned to Hensail. Howard Hemphill and Jas. McEwen have returned to. Hensall from the University of Toronto and Hugh Mc­ Kinnon has returned from Queen’s. London Conference of the United Church is meeting in Stratford this week. Mr. John Bell, who has been quite ill, is able to be out and around again. Mr. and Mrs, Harvey Perkins and family visited in St. Thomas over the holiday. Mrs. R. Welsh is visiting in_Ham- ilton with her sister, Mrs. — Brimacombe. Mrs, M. Heywood is spending few days in Hamilton with Rev. E. and Mrs. Johns. Mr. and Mrs. R. N. Creech visited with Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Newell in Stratford on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Fiddy, of Tor­ onto, visited with Mr. and Mrs. L. V. Hoggarth over the holiday. Dicky, two-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Richards, is quite ill with pneumonia, but is improving. Mr, and Mrs. Wrm. Perkins Miss Arthur, of London, visited Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Perkins on 24th. Mrs. R. Duncan, of Brantford, has been visiting her brother Mr. J. J. Cox, of the Central Hotel for the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Buttler and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Perkins, of London, visited with relatives in town on Sunday. Mr. Gladwin 'Clarke has returned to Alton, Ill., after spendin, weeks holidays with Milton Russell. Miss Margaret Martin, nurse-in­ training at the Hamilton Hospital, will graduate next week, the grad­ uation exercises to be held Wednes­ day, June 5th. Mrs. Wm. Pincombe has received the sad news of the death of her sister-in law, Mrs. T. H. 'Cooper, of Hardistry, Alta. She passed away on the 19th .of May. Mr. and Mrs. B. W. F. spent the 24th in Woodstock the latter’s brother who has returned from. Florida where spent six months. Rev. Austin and Mrs. Gay, little son, of Ben Accord, Alta., are visiting for a few days with relatives Mrs. Gay was formerly Miss Beat­ rice Howey, of town. Mrs. McCallum, of London, and Mrs. A. A. Ferguson, of Toronto, visited with Mrs. Egan and other relatives over the week-end. Mrs. Ferguscn is remaining on a visit. Dr. Frank Blatchford, of Fort William, is visiting with his father Mr. Francis Blatchford and other relatives. Dr. Blatchford attended the Dental Convention in Toronto last week. Heywood and Mr. A, Fran­ ce have received word of the death of their sister-in-law, Mrs. Byroh Francis, of Victoria, B. C. In May 1934, Mr. and Mrs, Francis celebrat­ ed their golden wedding jubilee. Lon­ don, are to be congratulated on their extraordinary good fortune in win­ ning a Congoleum rug in a guessing contest three years in succession, Mr. Silas Reed motored to Hamil­ ton on Friday and was accompanied home by his mother, Mrs. Thornton who has been suffering from blood poisoning in her right hand. She is improving. Bruce, son of Rev. S. M. and Mrs. Gordon, who was knocked from his bicycle a week ago Saturday even­ ing had an X-ray taken of his log this wook and it was found that the bohe had been fractured. Robert Hedden, aged 30, a former resident of Exeter, died In Victoria Hospital, London, on Tuesday even­ ing.
