LOCALS WIN ANOTHER
The local ball team added another
victory to their list on Tuesday ev
ening when they outplayed the Cen
tralia boys on the latter’s diamond
by the score of 16 to 2. This
puts the locals at the head of
'league with six wins and one
with a postponed game yet to
played. Exeter scored one run in
the second but ran wild in the third
when no less than twelve, runs cross
ed the plate. They added one more
in the fourth and two in the sixth,
Centralia was held scoreless until
the fifth when one run crossed the
plate and added another in the sixth
Bruce Mitchell started pitching for
the losers but gave way to Dick
Parker in the third. Pete and Hum
Willard divided the pitching duties
for the winners. Creech for the win
ners hit a home run in the sixth
inning. Thursday night draws the
first half of the schedule to a close
and a second half will be drawn up

A very enjoyable afternoon and
evening was spent on July 1st when
over thirty families of the 2nd and
3rd concession of Usborne gathered
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George
Westcott. About 130 were present
In the afternoon games were indulg
ed every one takng part with great
enthusiasm. Supper was served on
the lawn about '5.3i0. Everybody
had all the good things they wanted
to eat besides a liberal supply of
ice cream and lemonade. After sup
games were soon again on the go

cently under the auspices of the
Ladies’ Aid and the choir. The
main feature of the program was a
two-act p'lay entitled “Fun in a
Chinese Laundry” under the direc
tion of Miss Alice Hoffman. The re
ceipts amounted to $79,81 after ex
penses were paid which is shared
by the Ladies' Aid and the choir.
Mrs, D, Tiernan was convenor of the
management committee.
A charming wedding topk place in
Zurich Catholic church last Tuesday
when Rev. Fr, Powers united in
marriage Loretta, eldest daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Ziler and
Harry Zimmer eldest son of Mr.
and Mrs. A. Zimmer. The bride was
gowned in white canton crepe and
was assisted by her sister, Antion-
ette, who was gowned in maize
crepe. After the ceremony the happy
couple left for Niagara Falls and
points east, the bride travelling in
a biege suit. The community ex
tends heartiest congratulations.

will give an entertainment in the
Evangelical church on Monday ev
