Skinner, who has been ill for some time is improving. Her neice, Airs. Johnston, R. N., who has been with her for some time, has returned to her home in Detroit. Air. Archie Davis is at Westmin­ ster Hospital, London, receiving treatment for a wound in his received during the late war which has given him more or trouble ever since. At the Sunday Slchool and morn­ ing services at the Caven Presby­ terian church on Sunday a very in­ teresting letter was read from Dr. Alargaret Stang, Missionary in the Peace River District. The letter will be reprinted1 in the Times-Ad­ vocate next week. , ; Last week mention was* made of two residents of Exeter who cele­ brated their birthdays on February 29th, Leap Year Day. Another resi­ dent who celebrated her birthday on the same day was Mrs. Ardagh Rol­ lins when a number of her friends called and extended their congratu­ lations. A new partnership ‘lias been form­ ed to take over the publication of the Wingham-Times formerly own­ ed by the late W. Logan ’Craig. Air. W. W. Armstrong, son-in-law -of the late Mr. Craig will enter partner­ ship with Air. W. B. McCool, who has been in charge during Air. Craig’s illness. Airs. John Sanders, of Chilliwack, B. C., in renewing their subscription to the Times-Advocate states that they still enjoy reading the paper, Air. Sanders says that other papers do not appeal to him like his own home town paper. They pass it on to one of Exeter’s old timers, Air. A. Patterson, who will be 85 years old next birthday. Air. Patterson is hale and hearty and down town nearly every day. He- still remem­ bers quite a few names mentioned in the paper and is pleased to- get it. Airs. Sanders states that they have had a lot of rain this winter. The Alarch meeting of James St. Mission Circle was- .held on Monday night at the home of Aliss Grace Creech with the president, Mildred Rowe in charge. Aleeting opened with staging “All Hail the Power of. Jesus’ Name,” followed by the Lord’s prayer in unison. The Easter Thankoffertag amounting to $25.65 was taken. After a short business meeting the president gave-' the meeting over to Celia Christie. A short account of our missionary for prayer was given by Ruble Creech followed by prayer by Celia Christ­ ie. The devotional leaflet on “Thomas, the Man of Moods*' was given by Alice Handford. Velma Lowry,then favoured the meeting With, a piano solo. 'The printed Easter program then followed. A chapter of ’'The Moffatts/’ was lis­ tened to with a great deal of inter­ est as it was read by Rota Rowe. At the close of the meeting lunch was served by Rubio Creech, Velma Lowry and Celia Christie, C. G. 1. T. The regular meeting of the C.G.I. T, was held in-Jame-s Street church on Wednesday evening. The meeting opened by repeating their motto fol­ lowed with prayer by Jean Pilon. Minutes were read . and roll call answered by a favorite tooth pasxe. An interesting discussion was led by Airs. AIcTavisli after which Eileen Snell led in prayer. Airs. Brown­ ing gave the talk of the evening on “Sprains and Bandaging’’ which proved very educational. Airs. Alc- Tavish gave the figures on the card codes. Following a sing song the meeting closed with the Mizpah benediction. JAMES STREET W. A. The regular meeting of the James St. W.A. was held in the church par­ lors on Thursday, March 3rd. Mrs. Goulding, president, was in the chair. Airs. Alaud Heywood conduct­ ed the devotional period. The var­ ious reports were given and approv­ ed. Mrs. H. Carey was appointed Convenor of the program committee in place of Airs. A. O. Elliott, -resig­ ned. It was voted to continue the ten cent teas which proved so suc­ cessful last year. Following the ■business session the ladies enjoyed a vocal duet by Mrs. E. Morse- and Airs. H. Carey and a piano solo by Mrs. J. Batson. Lunch was served and a social half hour brought the meeting to a close. MAIN STREET W. A. The regular monthly meeting of Alain, St. Woman’s Association was held on Alarch 3rd. Mrs. Aloon- oy. conducted the devotional part of the meeting after which the presi­ dent, Mrs. Doerr, took charge. 'The visiting and flower committees for March were appointed and it was decided to continue the ten cent teas which have proved so successful during January and February. It wag decided that the Woman's As­ sociation join with the Meli's Union in April and hold a social evening.
