The annual meeting of the Kirk
ton Agricultural Society was held in
Aberdeen Holl on Thursday of last
week The president John Alorphet
occupied the chair. There was a
fair attendance. The Secretary-
Treasurer, Amos Doupe presented
the annual report and financial
staitment which showed that the fair
of 1931 was one of the best ever
held. The total receipts were $1,-

experience for this time of the year

United Church held their first meeting
of the year in the Sunday School

ably presided and about twenty-five

The regular meeting of the 'Whalen
Y« 1\ S* was held in the basement of
the church on Thursday evening
January 14, The pr csid.en t Marzettc
Sadler was in the chair. *The meeting
opened with the use of hymn 384 after,
which Rev. Mr. Robb led in prayer.
The roll call and minutes were read
by the secretary, 'fifty-four members
being present. j^fter hymn 85 was
sung the convenor, Mrs. AL
Johnson took, the chair. The Scrip
ture lesson, John 3:1-16 was read by
Mary Morley. Avery delightful solo
“Ivory Palaces,” was sung by Victor
Denholm.. A very Interesting story of
Nicodimus was readby Mrs. Mervm

Mrs. Susanna Anthony, a nai
of McGillivray Township and for
past 24 years a resident of Lon
died recently after an illness of i
months. Born in that township
years ago she was a daughter of
late Air. and Mrs. Alexander W
er. After spending her early
in the county she lived for m
years in Davenport, Iowa. Then
returned to Canadd and took
residence in London, where she
since lived. iSurviving are t!
