opened by a couple of men from
Michigan, who operated it for six
months before disposing <of it to Mr,

The C. N. R. will put into effect
reduced fares over the Christinas
and New Year’s holidays. The return
fare will be a single and a quarter
fare, good * going. Dec. 23, 24 and
215 and valid for return trip up to

fare good going Dec. 30, i3’ and Jan.
1, returning up to and including
January 4th.
Also a special fare for teachers

PIONEER OF HURON
COUNTY LAID TO REST
A well-known resident of Kippen
and one of the last pioneers who
helped to open up this country, John
Whiteman, passed away at his home
in Kippen. Mr. Whiteman was in
his 99th year and had been a resi
dent of Huron County for 82 years,
having been born tn Nassagaway
Township and at the »ge of 17 mov
ed to this locality. lAr co-incident
in the passing of Mr. Whiteman is
4hat his funeral took place on No
vember the 12th on the 65th anni
versary of his marriage to Elizabeth
Mary Edgar, who predeceased him
nine years ago last March. .Surviv
ing are his three sons, Alfred, of
Chicago; Alden, of Long Beach, cal.
and Herbert; of Toronto and three
daughters, Mrs. -Robert Dinsdale, of
Kippen; Mrs. Maurice McConnell,
Of Detroit,. and. Miss Mabelle, at
home. Two sons, James arid Chas,
passed away in their youth.
Mr. Gordon L. Hall, son of Mr,
G. E. Hall, publisher of the Clinton
News-Record, has purchased the
Haldimand Advocate, a
paper published at Cayuga.

Kitchener, son of Mr. Gustave Paul-
inski and the late Mrs. Paulinski, of
Kitchener. She was given away in
marriage by her father. The bride
looked beautiful in white celenese
silk with long sleeves draped from
elbows, falling slightly over the
hand, the dress was adorned with a
drop of pearls which came down to

of Innerkip, wore a pretty shell pink

Mr. Rufus Turnbull, of Grand Bend
supported the groom. The wedding
party entered the parlour to the
strains of the Bridal Chorus played
by Mrs. Norman Turplbull. The room
was decorated in blending tones of
pilik and white with an arch of ever
greens, autumn leaves’ and pink and
white mums. The officiating min
isters were, Rev. Mr. Mathers, of
Grand Bend and Rev. Mr. Stone. Af
ter the ceremony Mr. Norman Turn
bull ushered the guests which num
bered aibout 40 to the dining room
which was also done in pink1 and
white. After the first .sitting Rev.
Mathers proposed, a toast to the
bride and groom. After the recep
tion they left by motor to different
points east Kitchener Galt and
London. The bride’s travelling
suit was. of navy blue with
hat and coat to matJoh. 'The groom’s
gift to the bridesmaid and’ pianist
were beautiful necklaces, to the
groomsman a white And green -gold
watch chain. Guests from a. dis
tance were from Cayuga, Innerkip.
