The baseball season opened in Hensall on May''24th with a game between Ilderton and ‘Hensall. A large crowd gathered at the grounds and Reeve Geiger pitched the first ■ball. It was a good exhibition of baseball and the game was won 4-3 in favor of Hensall. 1 In the evening a concert was giv en in the Town Hall by Duncan Cowan and troop of Toronto. After the concert the large crowd present enjoyed a dance with the Hay ter or chestra, furnishing the music. The proceedings of the day were under the auspices of the Fire Brigade. The play entitled “Eyes of Love” will be put on in the Town Hall by the Listowel Dramatic Club on Mon day evening, June 1st .under the auspices of the United church choir. The play is filled with .comedy, path os and a thrilling situation and is a beautiful story with a deep plot a strong moral and a happy ending. Miss Winnifred Anderson, A. T. C. M. and others will provide numbers between acts. The caste has been traind by a professional actor. The services in the United church were largely attended on iSunday last. The Rev. Mr." Clarence Fah ner recited several witty phrases suitable for the occasion. Special mention must be made to the solo of Albert Wolf wh'O' made Iris initial appearance- in singing “Harrigan.” He was heartily encored. Jack Lovie gave several old fashioned step-dances which showed he had learned the art very well. M. W. Telfer acted as- Interlocutor and Herb Eilber officiated at the piano. ’Phe receipts for the evening were around $80.00. It was decided to have Conference Sunday for the W. M. -S. special service and a committee was appointed to secure a speaker for that day. The Zion ladies then took charge and gave a splendid program after wlhich, lunch was served in the basement and a very enjoyable social time- was spent.
