McDonald, of the Lon don Road; who has been in a Toron to hospital, lias returned home and ,greatly improved in health. Case spent a lew days last week visiting with friends'in Detroit. Mr. Case brought Home a new Chrysler coupe that he recently purchased from Cook Bros. A large crowd attended the ser vices in the Carmel Presbyterian church on Sunday last. Inspiring ser- anons were delivered by the pastor. .During the morning, service Mr. and Mrs. Verne Hedden had their baby baptized. The Odd Fellows of Hensall, Exe ter, Brucefield, Clinton, Seaforth and Lucan attended Divine Service at St, Paul’s Anglican church on Sunday evening last, with’ a large crowd present, and a very interesting ser mon was delivered. On Tuesday evening the recently -elected officers of Hensall Lodge No. .223 I. O. O. F. were installed by D. D. G. M. Suitter and-his installing team,.from Clinton and at the con clusion of the meeting refreshments were served and, a social hour spent. Mr. Henry Arnold received word on Tuesday of the death of his brother Fred Arnold, wno died in a Bufifalo Hospital on Tuesday morn ing. Mr. Arnold was well known in Hensall having conducted a general store "business here some twehty-fiye years ago, The, firm of Bonthron & Drysdale celebrated their twenty-first anni versary on Tuesday pf being in busi ness in Hensall. Their big store thronged all day and especially in the evening large crowds attended the demonstrations put on iby differ ent firms. Some ’ ten demonstra tors were there demonstrating dif ferent lines of' goods sold by Bom thron & Drysdale and giving advice. From a small "beginning the firm has grown to he one of the largest hard ware dnd furniture establishments in Western Ontario. Tinney-Pepper Nuptials A quiet but 5 pretty wedding, was solemnized on Saturday, April 25th at 10 a.m. at Hyatt Ave. United Church kparsonage, London by Rev. S. C. Parr when Ella ChriStene youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Pepper of Hensall became the bride of Wni- George Scrandrett Tinney eldest’ son of Mr. Matthew Tinney of Hay. The bride looked charming in a frock or French Blue silk crepes with gold lace trimming and wearing a corsage bouquet of Sweetheart roses ana sweet peas. The bride was attended by Miss Grace E. Pepper sister of the bride and the groom, being supported by Mr. Frank Wildfong, of Exeter. Im mediately after the ceremony the wedding., party . motored to Wood- stock were a sumptuous wedding din ner was served at. the Canton Cafe. Later the happy young couple left on a trip to Niagara Falls and Toronto On their return they will reside in Hay Township. The Death of Mr*. Nathan Peek The death occurred at Hensall on Wedii'esday, April 29th of Eliza A. .McKinley, wife of Nathan Peck in .her 73rd year. Mrs. Pfeck was.- born in Stanley Township, ;the daughter o.f the late Mr. ana Mrs. John Mc Kinley and spent her early life there. Preparations are under way for a Mother & Daughter Banquet to be held in the church on May 12th, Mr. and Mrs, John Francis, of London visited at Mr, Wesley John’s this week, The Live OaikS Mission Circle met for their monthly meeting on April 27th at the home of Mrs. White with eleven airemlbers present. The first hour was spent in .sewing. The president, Miss Florence Herdman thep took charge and opened the meeting with a verse of scripture t’oL lowed by hymn 187. An Easter scripture Jessop was read responsiyer- ly followed by prayer. Miss -Aud rey Prance then read "My Easter Thankoffering”. An ’ Easter read ing was also given by Miss Florence Bell; Miss Verna Brock read “The Perfect Love of God”; Misses Ber nice Murch and Margaret Johns gave a splendid report of the Presbyter- ial held in Hensall on April 26th. Roll call was responded t.o by an Easter message. Miss Dorptjhy Bar con was appointed to act as assist ant' treasurer; two other Easter reading were given by Misses Flor ence Herdman and Marjorie Del- bridge. There was a large attendance present and nt the close of the meeting a ban quet was served. - The death occurred at her 'home in Tuckersmith on Saturday, May 2nd of Mrs. McLean, beloved wife of John McLean *in her* 62nd year. Mrs. McLean has been in poor health for some time, and gradually wealkened until she passed away on Saturday IMrS. McLean’s maiden dame -jvas Eli sa Dalyrmple ahd was a member of the Chiselhurst United church and •was highly respected by her friends and neighbors. The funeral which was private took place on Friday afternoon with interment in the Bayfield cemetery. Her pas tor the Rev. Arthur Sinclair had charge of the service. Council Meeting The regular monthly meeting of the village council was held on Mon day evening with all the members present and Reeve Geiger in the chair. The niinutes of the last meeting were 'read and adopted on' motion- of Consitt and Mickle. A delegation from tlie firemen fire chief Moore and Geo. Brodk were present and stated that some of the fire hose was wore Out and should be’replaced by 50 or 100 foot more., The’ clerk was instructed to write foi\prices for new hose on motion of Spencer Consitt. Tax Collector Hemphill was pres ent, and stated that there was $414.- 14 of back taxes to collect. It was moved by Mickle and seconded by Consitt that the Collector hand in "tlie UniountS of uncollected taxes to the town treasurer to be sent by him to the County Treasurer for collection. « .
