that will assure spiritual success, to
CliTistian missions, either in the first
century or jt1 the twentieth,
The Lord,-Ilasing called his 12
, disciples together,. "sent theni to
preach." A true Christian mission-
ary must be called of Gad and sent
by God, "Don't go if ,you can help
it," said, a veteran Christian to a
young Person who was thinking of
the mission field, What was meant
was simply that one Ought to have
such an overwhelming conviction
that Gad is 'ceiling to the mission
field that- one simply cannot be at
-peace "Andan, ywroeveeeirsei,vm
• not receive
you,, when ye •gc; out of that city,
shake .oft the very dust 1:roln your
feet for a testimony against them."
That should be uncompromising zeal
and message of missionaries, They
are offering dead souls the secret of
life. •Should this •offer be rejected
the amsequences sould be declared
in no uncertain terins.
• When the Lord -asked' the dis-
ciples, "But whom say ye that I
am?" Peter, answering said, "The
Christ of "God." Missionaries Who
who do not believie in the deity of
Christ had, better abandon missiens.
As Bishop ,Moule said: "A_ Christ
who is not God is a bridge broken
at the farther` end." ' There is only
one who is mighty tosave; only One
whom missionaries can Confidently
offer•to the lost heathen. world; that
one is the Christ of God,
But Christ, alone is 'not the Gos-
pel, although there are • mistaken
missionaries who are telling, as to,
day that It is not what or
who •Christ is that serves men, The
Lord then told .111s disciples: "The

-some missionaries tell them that 1
is not so that they, get turned asid
from the truth." The Eingdom o
God will be ushered,.in by the re
turn of the King of glory; iknd thre
of the .disciples were given an earn
est of this as the Lord was trans
figured before them ,
Shortly after this the Lord repeat
ed His announcement, of the neces
sity for His lcoming dean, introdue
ing this with the solenin word, "Le
these sayings' -sink down into you
ears." The, death of Christ is vita
to the .Gospel; there could be n
Gospel without this.. Yet, At tha
time, the. disciples "understood no
this saying, and it was hidden iron
them,,that they perceived it not." 1
is to, he feared that they were at the
time in the darkness of some pres
