Mr. E. N. Shier„our general mer-
chant, has decided to retire from his
business and is selling off his entire
stock of dry goods, boots and shoes
and groceries: It is 38 years since
Mr. Shier started in business here,
buying out J. Doupe & Co. At that
time it was Shier &.Marshall. after-
wards Mr. Marshall retired and Mr.
'Shier took over the business and has
conducted it successfully ever since.

The Death of Mrs. Michael O'Reiurke
.The death occurred of one of the
best known and esteemed residents
in the person of Mrs. Michael
O'Rourke, who passed anvay at her
home near Khiva on 'Saturday even-
ing after an illness of several months
Mrs. O'Rourke leaves to mourn her
loss, her husband, four daughters,
Sister Clarece, of London; Mrs. Coyle
O'Brien; Mrs. Chas. Ragier, of Mt.
Carmel and I:Vlllss Eileen, of Detroit,
and two sons Gerald and Dennis at
home. The funeral took place to the
R. C. cemetery on Tuesday at 10 a.m.
with a solemn high mass celebrated
by Rev. Fr. Corcoran with Rev. Fr.
Quigley, of Parkhill as deacon and
Fr. Powers, of Zurich, as sub. -dea-
