STORES RECOVERED TUESDAY, Three business places in Exeter were entered Sometime during the early hours of iSuuday bunting and considerable merchandise WAS Stolen. The bulli: of the goods was Stolen fromthe general store of lanes May while two guns, threw rifler and considerable ammunition was.taken from the hardware store of Mr. G, K. Hawkins. Tuesday at noon word was received by Jones&"May that a car had been abandoned between Russeldale and b'ullartoit and in the ear were a couple of fur coats, a trunk and other articles. The word was sent in by Mr. Francis •,A.b)ott who was on his way to Strat or'd Messrs. F. A. 1\iay, J. H. Jones a•c- com'panied by .Constable Norry :mo- tored out and identified ;the goods and brought them along with the car -back to Exeter. The ante had been abandoned early Tuesday morning., It had run out of gas and bad been backed down into a ditch. The ear was a Ford coach and had been driven .about 11 thousand guiles. The auto. license' plates had been removed but in the bottom of the car were .a bunch of keys with the name of a'Mr. Gallo- way, of London. The ear had evid- ently been stolen. It was ateeessary to. secure a team of horses to draw' the auto out of the .ditch after wlticlt 'the 'gas tank, was filled @ and it was brought to Exeter by Mr. (Mak. There was considerable excitement about the store of Jones & May when tli.e"stolen go,o.ds were brought back. The car. was soon surrounded by a crowd. of people, In the car was a trunk, a suittaase and a club bag and .all,- were packed with merchandise. •Two ladies' muskrat fur coats valued at about $250 were lying loose in ;the car along with the guns .and the ;ammunition stolen from Mr. Haw- Hardware Store. The ammun Jtien, which consisted of .s1te11s,, had ;!leen .durnped from the boxes. into a 'cement sack found in the store. A flashlight taken from the store waS also recovered. When Mr. J. H. Jones entered the store following the morning servic= of James Street church Sunday he noticed that a robbery had taken mace during the night, Thieves had entered the store through a cellar window by tearing out sdveral iron bars and forcing ellen the collar door which loads to the main store. • It was evident that the thieves had. made a. selection of the articles •tt5 Much valtiable'-n ercltau.dise jt'Iis left behind.
