IT'he tea given by the Bethany Sisters Sunday School class of the Evangelical church was held on Fri day evening at the home of -Mrs. M. Anderson with Mrs. Anderson as hostess. The guests were met at the door by Master Carl Anderson and ushered into the living-room where tea Was served by the Misses Pearl and Marie Kraft. Anniversary services will be held in the Evangelical church on Sun day October 2ilst. The congregation has 'been very fortunate in securing "The Mississippi Four Colored Quar tette” who will provide special music. Butledge-Fassold A pretty autumn wedding was solemnized at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Fassold, Dashwood, when their daughter, Nelda Eliza beth, was united in marriage to Clarence Thomas Rutledge, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Rutledge, Rev. T. Luft, officiating. The bride looked charming in her gown of white georgette with fitted bodice. The bertha and deep flounce were of Chantilly lace, Her veil of embroidered silk net, edged with seed pearls was held in place by a crown of orange blossoms. The bride’s bouquet' was of Talisman roses and ferns. Promptly at twelve the bride en tered the living room on the arm of her father to take her place beneath an arch of autumn leaves and flow ers. The bridal chorus was played by Miss Reta Fassuld, sister of the bride, who wore a pretty ,gown of lotus blue cut' on priaicess lines and little Doris Oliver, niece *of the groom, was a pretty flower girl in a frilly fwk of blue silk crepe. She carried a colonial bouquet of pink rosebuds. During the signing of the register, Walter Fas,sold, of London, brother of the bride, sang “I Love You Truly.” linmeditely after the ceremony a reception was held, Mrs. p. Fassold rceiving in a smart gown of black crepe with lace yoke and sleeves and a gracefully flared jabot. Mrs. Hugh Rutledge chose a pretty gown of cruise blue with white. The four-tiered wedding cake form ed a pretty centre for the long table, Pink tapers in silver holders, vases of pink and white sweet peas, dain ty place cards and favors made an attractive table. Misses Anno Tie man and Solma Rader, girl friends of the bride, assisted in serving, For travelling the bride wore a. green flicked wool swagger suit with matching accessories. Later Mr, and Mrs. C. T. Rut ledge left on a motor trip to* Now York, after which they will reside in Kintore. Pleteh is attending the Sessions of the General Board of Missions in Bucyrus, Ohio, this week. Anniversary services will be held at the United Church on October 7th. Rev. R. A. Brooks, of Ripley, will be the speaker for the day. Rev. Peters, of Elimville, had charge of the services at the Evan gelical church on .Sunday and preached very acceptable sermons both morning and evening. Mr. Peters also gave an interesting talk in the Sunday School. The True Blue class gave a short program during the devotional per Evangelical Clara Irene iod in the School on Sunday, acted as chairman'; led in prayer; the Scripture read by Lyla Faist and Nola Faist; Ella Morlock and Wealthy Schroed er rendered a vocal duet. Dr. and Mrs. Misener have re turned from their holidays having enjoyed a motor trip to Boston, N.Y. ■and points enrou<te. Miss Ruth Hendrick, of near Grand Bend and Mr. Ted Munn, of Hensall, spent Sunday at the hom<* of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Haist. A Gospel team from Stratford will take the services in the Evangelical church Sunday morning and evening during the absence of the pastor. United Yonnfe People’s Meeting at Grand) Bend Th Christian Endeavor of Evangelical church recently held a union meeting with the young people's society of Grand Bend Unit ed church. The Crediton Y. People contributed the program for the ev ening. Earl Haist in the chair con ducted the devotion. Rev. M. Pletch led in prayer; scripture reading by ILyla Haist; vocal solo, Nola Faist. The subject' for the evening, “Basic Virtues w'hich was divided into four topics: Harold. Pletch, (Courtesy; Margaret MqMaster, 'Courage; Alvin Finkbeiner, Goodwill and Gordon Ratz, Honesty; piano solo, Aiddileen Gaiser; guitar selection, Gerald Smith; vocal duet, Ruby Finkbeiner Agnes Lamport. Games and amuse ments were conducted by Rev. Mr. Moore, of Grand Bend after which lunch was served to seventy-five young people. Eldon .Smith tend ered a hearty vote of thanks to the Grand Bend young people for their fraternal invitation;’ Edmund Hendrick, the local president re sponded' in behalf of the Grand Bend society and expressed the pleasure of the few social hours.
