Tapp. Mrs. Thos. Harvey is improving and was able to be up for a while on Sunday. Mr. Alex Smith, of Blytli, visited during the past week with Mr. W. A. Turnbull. Mr. Bud Trimble, of Walkerville, visited over the week-end with Mr. Hugh Creech. The Exeter Public Library will re-open Saturday, September 1st. At present the Librarian, Mrs. Gid- ley, is on vacation. Mrs. William Newell and family of Stratford, are visiting with Miss­ es Ethel and Marion Bissett. Mr. A. Quiglay, of Kincardine, is visiting for a couple of weeks with friends in this community. Miss Emma Sanders, of Muskegon Heights, Mich., is visiting with Mrs. McAfvoy and Miss A. Sanders. Miss Edith Horton, of Oshawa, is spending her holidays with Mrs. J. Horney and Miss |M. A. Horton. Miss Alma Etherington, London, visited with Mr, and Mrs. A. W. Etherington over the week-end. Mr. Chester and Harley Sanders of Windsor, are holidaying at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Kestle. Mrs. George Russell and daughter Helen, of Hannah, 'Alta., is visiting with her mother, Mrs. Thos. Sand­ ers. Irene, Isobel and Homer Russell entertained -at their cottage, Camp Lizette. Chesley Lake, for the week­ end. Miss Rita Kitchen, Toronto, will be the guests of the Misses Mar­ garet and Isobel Russell for -the next two weeks. Mrs. McTavish anld daughter Iso­ bel, of Stratford, spent the weekend with the former’s mother, Mrs. J. W. Taylor. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Huntesr, Hel­ en and Russell, of Stratford, visited' with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Jones over the week-end. Mrs. J. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh O’Connor and son John, of Detroit, visited for a few days with Mr and Mrs. Rich. Davis, returning to their home on Monday. Mr. H. Windsor and Mrs. D. A. Mann, of Pt. Huron, spent a few days with Mrs. Lamport and Mrs. Hoskins. Mrs. Hoskins returned with them. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Beavers, of Detroit, Mr. Reg. Beaver,s, Sarnia, and Mr. Geo. Beavers, of Toronto; spent the week-end with Mr. and B. W. F. Beavers. Mr. Albert Traquair has returned home from St. Joseph’s Hospital, London, where he underwent an operation, with Mis's Margaret Johns R. N. in attendance. Mr. and Mrs. Francis V. Hill and family, Mr. and Mrs. John McKvoy and Mr, McNeal had a pleasant visit with the former’s mother and sister Mrs, Moses Beckler. Mr. Wm. Etherington, Mrs. Jas. Etherington and Mr. and Mrs. Al­ bert Etherington attended, the fun­ eral of the late Edward Etherington in Detroit on Saturday, Mr. R. R. Haggerman, of Toron­ to, spent the week-end with Mrs. J. Horney and Miss M. A, Horton and visited with his -children who are spending the .summer here. Misses jean and Betty Coates and Margaret Penhale, of Exeter, Miss Florence Mitchell, of Centralia, and Miss Kathleen. Sliain, of Belmont, spent the past week at Grand Bend. Miss Florence Senay, R. N., Of Pasadena, Calif., and Miss Mary Smith, R.N., of Detroit, spent Mon­ day with Dr. and Mrs. W. E. Weekes Miss Senay was a classmate of Mrs. Weekes. The home of the late Miss Addie Kernick, which was recently pur­ chased by Mrs. K. J. Sims has been sold by the latter to Mr. E. L, John­ ston of to-wn, who gets possession the first of October. Th? Rebecca. Lodge of Clinton in honoring the memory of one of their departed visitors have had a beauti­ ful flowering plant placed on the grave of Mrs. Clayton O. Martin in the Exeter cemetery. The Russeldale general store which has been operated and occupied by Ferguson and Grant, has been sold to' R. Williamson, who operated a store and filled the capacity of post­ master for the past few years. Mrs. E. Buswell and daughter Helen, of Lucknow, visited last week with the former’s- parents Mr, and Mrs. T. Harvey. They returned home with Mr. Buswell, Miss Enola and Ted who visited here on Sunday. Ford and family, of London, are visiting with the form­ er’s mother, Mrs. E. Lamport. Mr. Ford spent the week-end with them here. Mr. and Mrs. -Snelgr-ove and two daughters, Maida and Wanda, Port Burwell, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Penhale and other -relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Strang, of Us- borne, have returned home after vis­ iting with their son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Allen Perci­ val, of Noranda, Quebec, Mr. -and Mrs. Roy; Alderson, of Thedford, spent the week-end at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Collingwood. The children -re­ turned with them after a weeks’ vis­it. Mrs, Sheldon Moffatt and three children-, of Orono, -spent a week with her mother, Mrs. R. Stewart. They returned home with Mr, and Mrs. Cecil Stewart, who spent a few days visiting with them. Miss Ilene Kestle, or Windsor and Vera Kestle underwent an operation for the removal of their tonsils- by Dr. Dunlop -on Friday of last week ' at the latter’s1 home. ’Miss E. Wallis R.N., of Granton, was in attendance, Mr, J. H. Messer, mf Toronto, came up on Friday and visited with Mr, and Mrs. Hillary Horton. He returned Sunday accompanied by Mrs. Messer and babe who have been visiting with her parents for two weeks. Mr. and Mt’s. T. A. Brimacombe, of Hamilton, returned home the lat­ ter part of the week after a two weeks' visit with Mr. and Mrs, R. Welsh. They were accompanied home by Mrs. Welsh who will holiday in.. The High School Entrance Board met on Saturday to consider the ap­ peals on the recent examinationi re­sults. There were three appeals, one of which was passed it being that of Hilton -Sander-s of the Exeter Public School, who was only a few marks behind. Mr. and Mrs, R. <N. Rowe, Misses Vera and Reta and Rowe .and Bobby Dinney- motored to North Bay last week going by boat from Midland to parry Sound. They also went to see the Dionne home -and Da-foe Hospital now under construction near Callandeir.
