MODEL ON DISPLAY
A marvellous piece of handiwork
in the model of a Napoleonic coach fashioned by Mr. and Mrs. Richard
Thorne’s grandson, David Tennent,
of London, has been on display in
Mitchell, His model was selected as
the winner of the junior boy’s divis
ion and he received $100 and a trip
to Detroit. He has since constructed
another coach which was enrolled in London, England, in competition
with over 50,000 and he was joint
winner for first place. The model
is now on exhibition at the Century
of Progress Exposition, Chicago.

IMain Street Sunday School held,
their annual .picnic at Grand Bend
Wednesday of last week and it was
a splendid success. There was a
good, crowd and as the weather was
ideal 'bathing and boating were en
joyed. A program of sports were
keenly contested. A very sumptu
ous supper was served in the pavil
ion. Following were the results of

JAMES STREET PICNIC
The James St. Sunday School pic
nic at Grand. Bend on Wednesday
last was one of the best that has
ever been held. The weather was
ideal; the crowd was exceptionally
large and everyone entered heartily
into the games and sports and thor
oughly enjoyed the afternoon.
Early in the afternoon the picnick
ers gathered at the beach and many
enjoyed a dip in the- calm waters of
the lake. At four o’clock a .program
of sports was carried out on the
grounds adjoining the United.
Church. Following the sports a pic
nic lunch was .served with the members of the school seated beneath
the shade of the trees on the adjoin
ing hill. The married men and sin
gle staged a softball game hut the
married men wore hopelessly out
classed. This was followed by a
game between Grand Bend and the
James Street team and the latter
were the winners. The sports in the
afternoon started off with a scram
ble for peanuts and candies by the kiddies. The results of the races

made for from 25 to 30 members of the Canada Flying Clubs Asso
ciation who will land at Oakwood
Saturday afternoon in about fifteen
planes. They will come from Toronto, Hamilton, London, etc. The
golf course is proving very popular
