Miss Margaret Ellerington has returned to Victoria Hospital, Lon­ don, to resume her duties as nurse- in-training after recuperating at her home for several weeks. Mrs. H. Elworthy and daughter Mary have returned to town after spending the winter in Detroit. Mr. and Mrs. Orby Kestle motored over with them the forepart of the week Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Butler, Mr. John Francis and Mrs. M. Heywood motored up fom [London and visited with relatives in town on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Butler also visited at Cromarty. On Saturday night of last week sons, daughters and grandciliildren of Mr Henry Squire gathered at his home as a surprise to him-in honor of his 85th birthday. The evening was pleasantly spent at games and music followed by a dainty lunch. The shanty in the sugar bush of Mr. William Hooper, Lake Road, caught fire late Saturday night and was burned to the ground. The fire attracted the attention of some of the neighbours who assisted in put­ ting out the flames that had spread to some nearby stumps. FOR nette, dishes, sundry . J. Guild was held on, Monday evening at eight o’clock. Barbara Atkinson gave a very interesting talk on her trip through the United States and Mexico and especially her stay In California. She showed some inter­ esting pictures of movie starsf homes= in Hollywood and related some of her experiences there. SOCIETY The Main St. Young Peoples* So­ ciety entertained the James Street Society on Monday evening. The first part of the evening was1 in charge of the James Street president Mr. Clarence Down in the chair. A varied and very interesting program was given, consisting of a short de­ votional period followed by an in­ teresting talk by Donald Gladman. Several musical selections both in­ strumental and vocal were very much enjoyed. The program was brought to a close by an interesting play entitled “Way Down East.” The remainder of the evening was spent in games and contests'. (Lunch was served by the Main Street Y.
