CARMEL The death took place at West­ minster Hosiptal, London, of Mr. Arthur Pearson on Friday, October 6th and whose funeral took place on Saturday at 10 a.m. from the home of his brotner-in-law Mr. Mack McDonald, of 14th Con. Mc­ Gillivray to the Roman Catholic Cemetery here with Requiem Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr, Corcoran. Mr. Pearson is survived by his wife formerly Miss Agnes McDonald.t— Dr. L. Ryan and sister, Betty, of Chicago, called on their brother, Michael Ryan -last weex. — Miss Clara Glavin, of St. Marys, Madeline Glavin, of Colgan and rriend Miss M. Skelby, of Tottennam, spent the holiday with the former's par­ ents, Mr. and Mrs. josepn Glavin.— Misses Mary McCann, of Chatham, Mary Murray, K. Morrisey, Helen Glavin, Lizzie Dietrich of London spent the week-end \at their • homes here.—The card party aand dawing of tickets took place m the Hall here on Wednesday evening, October 1st. The lucky tickets deciding the win­ ners were for 1'0'0- sugar was held by Arthrur McKeever, 100 flour won by Miss Doran, Parkhill. The fancy quilt by Miss Kathleen Wilds, of Dashwood; the colored'blanket won by Wilfred Ragier, of Crediton. The draw was made by William Switzer Reeve of Stephen Twp. Mr. N. Schenk won the gent’s prize and Miss Regina McCann won the ladies prize for playing cards. The consol­ ation prizes went to Hugo Schenk, Crediton and Mrs. P. Sullivan. Re­ freshments were served by the ladies —The funeral of the late Mrs. Levi Cameron, of Sarnia, formerly Miss Annie McIntyre, of this neighbour­ hood, took place here on Tuesday, October 10th__Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Ragier are visiting friends at De­ troit this week.—Mr. and Mrs. Ra­ tcliffe and Mrs. Mitton, of Detroit, were visitors at the home of Mrs. Mitton’s mother, Mrs. E. Hall.—Mt. Stephen convened at the Town Hall Crediton, on October 2nd, A.D. 1933 at 1 O’clock p.m. All members were present. The minutes of the prev­ ious meeting were read and approv ed.It was agreed that the Councils oj McGillivray and Stephen Townships will meet at the Town Hall, Crediton on October 9th, 1933 at 7 o’clock p.m. for the purpose of settling ac­ counts.The Clerk read the Engineer’s re­ port re “The -Colwell Drain” and in­ formed the Council that he had mailed a notice to all assessed per­ sons assessed in the Township o. Stephen that the report would be rend this dny. Moved by Mr. H. Beaver, seconded by Mr. Roy Holt: That pursuant tc notices mailed to all interested per­ sons, the Cerk read the Engineer’! report on “The Colwell Drain” and it was resolved that the report be ac­cepted and the printed or type-writ­ ten in pamphet form ana served on all the respective interested persons in the Township -of Stephen as pro­ vided by the Municipal Drainage Act. Six-year .4% Bonds, due 15th October, 1939 Issue Price: 99.00 and accrued interest, yielding 4-19% maturity. Twelve-year 4% Bonds, due 15th October, 1945 Issue Price: 96.50 and accrued interest, yielding 4.38% to maturity. Principal payable without charge in lawful money of Canada, at the office of the Minister of Finance and Receiver General of Canada at Ottawa, or at the office of the Assistant Receiver General at Halifax, Saint John, Charlottetown, Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary or Victoria. AU cash subscriptions will be subject to allotment. Following the announcement of the plan of allotment, delivery of interim certificates against payment in full for the bonds allotted will be promptly effected. Refunding Subscriptions Holders of Victory Loan 5J^% Bonds due 1st November, 1933, after detaching and retaining the coupon due 1st November next, may, for the period during which the subscription lists are open, tender their bonds in lieu of cash on subscriptions for a like par value of bonds in one or more maturities of the new issue and reoeive allotment in full with prompt delivery. The surrender value of the Victory 5J^% Bonds will be as follows: 100% of their par value on subscriptions for the Two-year 3J^% Bonds and the Six-year 4% Bonds. 100j^% of their par value on subscriptions for the Twelve-year 4% Bonds if effected on or before 16th October, and 100% of their par value after that date. No accrued interest on the new bonds will be charged on refunding subscriptions if effected on or before 16th October. After that date accrued interest from 15th October -will be charged. Holders will receive in cash the difference between the surrender value of their Victory Bonds and the cost of the bonds of the new issue. The amount of this Loan is limited to $225,000,000. The Loan is authorized under Act of the Parliament of Canada, and both principal and interest are a charge on the Consolidated Revenue 'Fund of Canada. The proceeds of this Loan will retire $169,971,850 Dominion of Canada 5%% Bonds maturing 1st November, 1933, and $40,000fi00 short-term Treasury Bills. The balance will be used for the general purposes of the Government. Subscriptions will be received and receipts issued by any branch in Canada of any Chartered Bank and by Recognized Dealers, from whom may be obtained application forms and copies of the official prospectus containing complete details of the Loan. Applications will not be valid on forms other than those printed by the King’s Printer. The subscription lists will open on 10th October, 1933, and will dose on or before Wh October, 1933, with or without notice, at the discretion of the Minister of Finance.
