Mr. Geo. Hunter, of Edmonton, is
visiting with his brother, Mr. John
Hunter and other relatives in this
vicinity. Mr. Hunter spent his early
life in this community and after
leaving here resided in Lucan and
Ridgeto\yn, spending a number oi
years in the latter place. In 19 01
he moved to the West.
A number of children and a few
adults enjoyed a very pleasant party
on Monday evening at the home oi

enjoyable feature oi the occasion
was a program of songs and recita
tions given by the children. It was
in honor of Mr. Howard Laverty’s
17th birthday.
Miss L. M. Jeckell, who is presi
dent of the Huron Presbyterial of
the W. M. S. left for Toronto on
Tuesday to attend a meeting of the
Executive of the Provincial organi
zation. While in the East Miss Je
ckell will spend the next week-end
with Rev. J. B. and Mrs. Rhodes at
the Manse, Cobourg.
Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Dunsford, oi
Marlette, Mich., are visiting with
their sister-in-law, Mrs. W. Dunsford
and calling on old; friends in this
community. Mrs. Dunsford is in his
86th year and his wife ?s three years
younger but despite vnelr advanced
years both are hale and hearty. They
left here about thirty years ago and
since then seldom fail to make an an
nual visit back among old friends.
Mrs. M. Heywood was pleasantly
surprised on Tuesday evening at the
home of Mrs. Thos. Dinney when the
neighbours gathered to spend a so
cial evening with the former prior
to 'her departure for London. Miss
Alice Handford gave a short address
and Barbara Dinney presented Mrs
Heywood with a lovely-box of sta
tionery to which she made a very
fitting reply. Lunch was served and
