We re gret your departure from our midst The break in our fellowship has left' us poorer, though the memory ’of 'your presence will always be a joy .and inspiration to us. All who have known you have lov ed, and always and to all, you have been a cheerful, loving, loyal friend. In our church life and work we were always sure of your interest, sym pathy and support. As members of the Women’s Missionary Society, we have sincerely appreciated your faithful and devoted service. About twenty new members were received into the church this .making ,about' sixty to be added to the church roll in the last two weeks. The music was in keeping with the Christmas season a^id a very large number of “White Gifts” were brought to the front of the church while a class of boys sang an appropriate song entitled, “White Gifts.” These were taken to’ Lon don to help relieve those in need there. The decorating committee did their work in a very creditable manner as the church was beautiful ly decorated, a small Christmas tree stood in front of the altar rail while holly, bells and other decorations wrfre prominently placed around the church. ‘ present A very large number were to enjoy the service. The response was most gracious indicat ing the enthusiasm with which the school entered into the real spirit of Christmas which is the spirit of giving. / At’ night the “Manger Glory” by Herman Von Berge, a beautiful ser vice in tableau and song was present ed by the choir and: other members of the congregation. The large audi torium and galleries were packed to their utmost'capacity over 200 extra chairs being pressed into service while* people sat on gallery steps or crowded every available spot. The service opened with a call to worship, followed by a response from the choir. The Intermediate boys ajid girls sitting in the side gal leries, then sang “Awakte my .Song." Scripture reading lead by the pastor and responses by the choir followed after which prayer was made. Fol lowing the announcement and offer* ing the choir and children sang ‘Tell it Again” during which the curtains were drawn revealing a stage dim ly lighted by shaded footlights. The scene was a mountain one with imi tation rocks scattered about. The pastor acting as announcer through out read a brief section regard ing the fall of man and the need of a merciful God. “Be merciful to us,” was then sang by the choir and a solo, "I Hear Thee Calling” by Miss Pearl Wood, followed by ‘Guide Us 'Thou,” by the choir prepared the way for the first tableau scene. w.■Amid tense silence Rev. J. Down as Abraham, dressed in suit able costume came upon the stage followed by Isaac in .the person of Gail Browning. An altar' ,was hur riedly built and the scene on the Mt. M-oriah portrayed in a yay that reg istered one of the high places in the whole service. “Reveal Thyself To day”* was sung by the choir and In termediates, following which Moses in the person of Lloyd Parsons carry ing two tablets appeared upon the stage. He was followed by King Da vid in the person of Chas. G-odbolt, who carried a harp. Isaiah, in the person of H. T. Rowe carrying a scroll followed, each to accompanied Teadingb by the announcer. Simeon impersonated by Walter Cutbush then appeared and after worshipping before the altar, the four voices join ed in singing “Oh Were He Coming Soon.” The quartette was much ap preciated and well rendered. During the singing of “Oh, Little Town of Bethlehem” shepherds appeared up on the mountainside and proceeded to build a fire, “While Sheph’erds Watched” was then sung by the choir. Then followed a visit of the Angel, Miss Ruby Creech taking the part of the Angel. “Glory to God” by the choir followed after which the shepherds left for Bethlehem. During .the singing of the ‘‘Madon na’s Lullaby.” The Manger scene was prepared and the curtains being again, drawn revealed the maniger with Miss Reta Rowe sitting at one end as Madonna. The shepherds again appeared and bow in worship and adoration. Twenty little prim ary children then crossed in two pro cessions in front of the manger pay ing homage to the Babe and singing as they go, “Luther’s*Cradle Hymn.” 'Three Wise Men gorgeously robed then appeared singing in unison the first verse of 'Three Kings of Orient’ Melchior impersonated Parsons next sang the second verse and presented his gift. sons representing Cahpar followed with Chas. Godbolt as Balthazar sing ing the fourth. Following the pres entation of gifts all three joined in the last verse with shepherds also singing in the chorus. The Wise Meh then departed and to the song "From Every Tribe and Tongue” sung by the choir and Intermediates representatives from different na tions, 14 in all, came marching from the rear of the auditorium and after kneeling a moment in worship before the manger arranged themselves in graceful and worshipful attitudes up on the platform.
