Assess ment Roll of the Municipality for 1930 held in the Totvn Hall,, Mem bers present, Chairman, J. H. Grieve Reeve Francis, Councillors Rivers, and Bierling. The meeting held June 2nd were read gnd approved. Mr. Geiger being ed the Court, flax tow and straw, claiming that his goods were not a finished pro duct, and asked that the business as sessment .be dropped, Mr. Hunter, the Assessor, was heard regarding placing the assessment and he claim ed the plant to be a manufacturing |ne and subject to business assess-, ment, in his judgment. After dis- cussion the Court agreed to sustain tjhe assessment on motion of Fran cis and Rivers. Carried. There being no other appeals the court closed for the year on motion c f Bierling and Rivers. Carried. Jos. Senior, Clerk |- The Municipal Council met at the alose of the Court of Revision. Pres ent, Reeve Francis; Councillors H. Bierling, Grieve and Rivers; Coun cillor Roweliffe being absent on ac count of sickness.J The minutes of the meeting held Jjune 2nd were read and approved. • ; Mr. Walter Harness presented a signed petition asking that a Billiard Parlor license Bjeeve advised Council would slderation during the meeting. Letters were read from the office of iS. F. Lawrason & Company, of London, regards order for calcium chloride, appreciating order. From- the office of the Deputy Provincial fiejcreta’ry, Tloromto1, ex plaining that' in. future a patient’s name would be - dropped from the municipal a'ccount. , A petition was received from rate payers along William Street, asking that a crossing .be placed at the h^ad of John Street and across Wil liam Street. The petition was re ferred to the roads, and bridge com mittee to report upon. A signed petition praying the ■council not to grant a license for a Billiard Parlour was handed in to ;thb Council and was duly read- Air ier due, consideration, by the Coun cil of the two petitions as present ed they* decided that no action be taken at the present time. Tenders were opened and a'ead for the cleaning up of the dump ground, six tenders being submitted. After due consideration, the tendei' of Mr. Thomas Cornish of Thames Road was accepted 011 motion, of Grieve and Bierling. The auditors’ report for Maj' was read and accepted on motion of Rivers and Bierling. The accbunt for liability insurance was held over until the July meet ing. The order for cedar posts as for warded June 3rd by phone and con firmed by mail was approved. The following accounts were read and ordered paid: Dr. M. C. G. Pearce, of Exeter, was united in marriage to YVesley Curtis Redmond, of .Syra cuse, N. youngest son of Charles A. Redmond, Milverton, on Satur day afternoon last. The ceremony was performed by Rev. -C. J. Moor house, the bride’s pastor, and his twin brother, Rev. A. E,. Moorhouse, of East Windsor, who baptized her as an infant. During the signing of the register Miss Zilpha Willson, St. Thomas, sang “At Dawning.” Going away, the bride wore a green and sand ensemble and a cinnamon fox fur,- the gift of the groom. Guests were present from Windsor, St. Thomas, Shedden, Dorchester, Iona, Fingal, Stratford, London and Toronto. The happy couple will motor to the Thousand Islands and cross the bor der at Prescott, to proceed to their new home in. Syracuse. The fight came to a head it is stated when Drike broke the bottle over the other’s head. On Sunday evening a -sedan car left the highway south of Exeter during the heavy rain and dropped into a deep ditch the sides of which prevented the car from turning over, A coupe with a rumble seat con taining four young people of Strat ford Went into the ditcli a few miles west of Exeter on the Lake Road Saturday afternoon but fortunately there was no damage done. The ac cident .was caused by a. flat tire, A motor accident took place west of Crediton Saturday afternoon when a Carson family from London wore On their way to picnic at Grand Band. The Judge ordered the Trustees to repay the money but they appealed the case preme Court and now Middleton, of Toronto judgment dismissing the appeal with costs.
